organising buy orders to containers

Something that has given me multiple headaches and caused me to stop trading occasionally.

My main income is gained form trading, and thus I got plenty of buy orders.
The big headaches come afterwards. What was bought to sell in the same station, what was to move to a different hub and what has been bought to reprocess? Hard to keep track of everything, even spreadsheets are too much work to keep updated.

Currently I make lists with pen and paper and move items to containers and ships manually.

Just like you can with industry. I would very much love to be able to give buy orders a destination container.

Please CCP make my dream a reality.Big smileBlink

The game sees a container full of things as a container (just one thing). You have to pull the things out of the container for the game to see them. You can't sell some of the things in a container because they don't exist, just the container exists. This was a programming decision made back in the early days of Eve (keep in mind there were no Ravens in the game until some player mined the minerals and made them - vastly different now). There just weren't mega piles of anything that would make buying/selling to/from containers something one would think about 10 years ago (when the game was initially coded).

You can call the way the game looks at containers any number of things - none of the names will change their current reality. I would assume back fitting (in this case back programming) all the market things to look at containers in such a way as to allow what you are asking would be an epic undertaking. Keep in mind that the roots of the market code and how containers work are 10 years old. If your wish were granted - the market would probably be broken in obscure ways for another 10 years.

Sorry dude

This is what I've done for a decade.

It works.
