Explain some of these gifts

There were a few gifts I didn't understand. For instance the thing that says it has blueprints for all the frigates yet they can't be read by manufacturing equipment (or something like that anyway). Then there was some kind of... holoreels or something. A few other things too.

Is there something I'm not 'getting'?

Not all gifts will have a practical use in-game. Some of the gifts are just Collectors Items, basically things that you can either keep or sell in the Market.

Some items are also gifts of appreciation from CCP towards players eg my miner http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/item.php?type_id=34421 Smile

So far, the only gifts I see upon opening the boxes were some clothing items, a couple random bits of tat, two "rejected SRP requests" and a cerebral accelerator.

The frigate blueprints are a reference to a book CCP Falcon (the madman in the description) is working on. The Frigates of New Eden.
