Need some help with exploration

Hey everyone, I don't know if this is the correct subforum. I haven't played EVE in few years now and I'm returning now. I decided to do some exploration, since I never did and I find it quite fun. Some questions however arose while I was reading up guides, watching vids etc.

1) Which sites I should do in order to maximize ISK/hr? Only specific sites or all of them?

2) Which is the best pirate space to do exploration in terms of drops/ISK?

3) Which would be the best ship to fly into while doing the best sites? Currently I can fly almost all Minmatar ships, beside t2 battleships and capital ships, but I dont think I will need this.

4) Which space would be best for maximizing ISK/hr - nullsec, lowsec or wormhole space?

At the moment I'm still getting the hang of exploration in a Cheetah.

Those are my questions for the moment. For reference here is my character:

1) Relic sites are more profitable than Data sites, so do them first. Faction sites are unguarded, whereas Sleeper sites are not. So unless you are bringing a combat ship, skip the Sleeper sites.

2) I'm not aware that any particular faction is much better than any other. The sec status of the zone is far more important than the faction. Go where the sec status is low, and the sites are not over-farmed.

3) The best ship for exploration will be either an Astero or the covert ops of your choice. These ships get a bonus to scanning and hacking. They cloak, and are fast enough to get in and out fairly safely.

4) Technically, I think w-space can be more profitable than null sec. However, you are also rolling the dice a little bit because you don't know what classes of wormhole you will get. If you have a null sec corp that is not over-farming its exploration sites, that's probably going to work out better in the long run.

If you like reading about low sec piracy or wormhole pvp, you might enjoy my blog.

To add to the above poster's comments I would say for 2) that Sansha have the most valuable relic sites because they drop Intact Armor Plates which will make your wallet very happy.

Thank you both for the answers. My question with regards to the faction was exactly because some factions may drop more valuable loot than others.

Other question - is it worth to fit my ship for fighting in Combat sites? Or just scan for Data/Relic sites? I have found out that they are really rare and was wondering if I'm not wasting my time trying to do only Data/Relic sites. Will I be able to do all combat sites with Astero?

If I go in w-space, isn't it better to fit a Loki or astero/covOps remain the better choice?

You need multi-ships.

One ship to do your scanning with.
Another ship for combat sites. Depending on the difficulty of the site, you will need anything from a good frigate up to a wellfit Marauder, or multiple ships/pilots. For wormholes, the difficulty varies based on the class of wormhole, as does the reward.

You generally want to avoid running combat sites in wormholes unless you can be sure the system you are in is secure as possible. Having a scout on all vectors that someone can arrive from is the minimum you want to risk, most take more steps (critting wormholes, closing non-statics). Religious checking of both D-scan and the Probe Scan window is also necessary.

Ideally you would be doing the same for relic site hunting, but most don't bother and just accept the risk.

Please fix wormhole combat sites: c1 20mil - c2 40 mil - c3 80 mil - c4 160 mil - c5 320 mil - c6 640 mil

Big fan of the stratios myself, though admittedly I use it more in a combat role that for exploring as such.

I use throw-away-Herons fitted to run away if needed. I don't care for my killboard and YOLO into most WHs.

So, I'm scanning and doing relic/data sites with my cheetah and do combat sites with something else, got it. I guess I'll get the hang of all sites first in low/null sec, then perhaps try wormholes.

Should I do all combat sites? Are there any which are preferred?

I disagree with using a covert ops ship. If your skills are decent enough, use an interceptor for exploration. Unless you get caught with a smart bomb, you basically can never die. I do exploration in an insta-warp stiletto. You can still scan down any site in the game, you can laugh at bubbled gate camps, so you can roam through hostile null and WHs easily.

'Ceptors can be bumped/caught quite easily by a multitude of cloaky ships in W-Space or null for that matter;

Although the GTFO ability of interceptors is valid enough, if you are in W-Space with no cloak, you will be found. And although i dont have a personal example, id put my little Stealth bomber 2-man gang against a solo Explo-ceptor any day.... It works extremely well against Asteros and im pretty sure the same would hold true for one Interceptor.

OP- my opinion- go roaming with the Cheetah. Do all the relics. Drop off loot somewhere when you get over 150mm in your hold. Rinse/Repeat. Always orbit cans. Fly back/forth to a BM 500km or so away instead of flying to each can directly. Make good ISK. Get killed occasionally. ALWAYS HIT DSCAN. Get a second acct. Use second acct to monitor surroundings off your Dscan. Be happy.
