Buying ISK

I am seeing a lot of ISK shops online where you can buy ISK for $. Are these sites legit? Can you really nuy the ISK cheaper than buying a PLEX and selling it in game?

Should I be considering buying ISK or is there a better way to get it ingame?

No. It's against the EULA to buy in-game goods from third parties.

You can't buy ISK, if you are caught all your accounts will be permanently banned. If you find sites like that, report them to CCP

Buy Plex from CCP, one of their authorized retailers and no one else.

Wow I didn't realise and thought it was done all the time. I suppose the same applies to buying characters and ships etc. So as I understand it I can buy PLEX and sell it ingame and that is acceptable. All other offers for ISK characters and ships etc. are a breach of the EULA and I could lose my account. SO all the web sites offering ISK know full well it is not legit and don't mention you couild lose your account.

Yes, you can buy characters though, but only through the "character bazaar" section of these forums.

CCP is fine with players buying ISK. As long as you buy it from them (or their approved resellers) only via PLEX

Buy PLEX for cash - Redeem PLEX to game- Sell PLEX in game for ISK. Anything else may get you banned if you get caught too many times.

The benefit of that system is that it put an hard cap to the price of isks from illegal sites, reducing their number, while allowing people with more $ than time to still get some serious isk.
Note that if you have more $ than common sense or experience in game you will probably lose those isk very fast.

I strongly suggest to wait before buying plexes and selling them for isks. New players doing that often spend the money for very costly items that end being destroyed in a short time.
If you don't have the basic skills or knowledge, even the strongest module or ships die easily.

This is NQ&A, we try to graciously answer all questions, and not tell people to not ask questions or that they should have figured it out for themselves. Take that attitude to GD please. Also, don't imply answers here, answer.

With a little thought, to use your own turn of phrase, one would realize that new players are joining up all the time with no gaming experience. So they wouldn't know what happens with other games, and they might not even be aware of file sharing either. So don't assume everyone else knows what you know, and would thus be able to figure out the answer for themselves based on what you know.

One would think the internet with the increased exposure to different cultures and perspectives would make people more tolerant, but it seems the exact opposite happened.

You don't have to buy plex directly from CCP. Buying from an authorized seller can give them a cutback if you want them to have one. The list of authorized sellers is here https://secure.eveonline.com/etc.aspx

Besides reporting the sites to ccp....

If you actually visited those sites I would recommend running scans for malware, keyloggers and stuff like that on your computer.

You would not be the first person who did get his account "hacked" after visiting a site like that.

You can not buy isk. If you do, the sound of thunder will roll across New Eden as CCP Peligro swings the mighty ban hammer.

However you can report those sites and auctions to security@ccpgames.com and you may receive a whistle blowers plex.
PLEX being the only item you can buy (through CCP or an official partner) and trade that for ISK.
