Is ninja salvaging dead?

So, like a lot of folks, Ascension has me back and playing. I even put my money where my mouth is and ponied up for a real subscription for a bit.

Curious, though, whether ninja salvaging is well and truly dead. I understand salvage prices are low due to oversupply due to these MTUs and maybe this Noctis ship. Apart from the ISK, do enough people take the bait and rage at ninjas or even aggress them, or what's the current state? I enjoyed my time in Suddenly Ninjas on an alt many years ago and thinking about whether to go back down this path or not.

Please don't tell me it's only suicide ganks and nothing more entertaining anymore.

Still alive and kicking, though it has changed a bit. Read up on suspect timers a bit before embarking on your reign of torment.

So many noobs flying Gnosis ripe for the picking.

If you want some hilarious interaction from both sides of the equation seek out Leffy (last seen in Simela), he loves sharing his territory with other Ninjas Blink

Some salvage fetches decent prices, but not a lot. One consolation is that IME buy offers are generally good on salvage; you don't have to spend as long selling your catch because with a lot of it you can just let it go on the best buy offer.

MTUs do mean you can pop MTUs as sport, which is also a good way to get aggressed - but other than popping MTUs aggression by mission runners is pretty limited.

Good luck.

Also, if you're going to be ninja salvaging in something with some teeth, learn the missions that have chances at implant loot. I know there's a couple where shooting the right structure has a percentage chance of this. It'll really irritate the mission runner if you get his bonus before he does.

I have done quite some ninjaing in 2015. Its not as recent but also not as long ago. Ive been doing ninja on and off since 2010 so here are pros and cons the way i see it:

Pros:
-far less people doing ninja. Almost nicht if we compare to 2008-2011 levels. New generation of carebears grew up unfamiliar with the concept
-mtu is shootable, which often triggers aggression and a need to 'defend' the structure

Cons:
-you are suspect and free game to everyone.
-engagement timer is only 5mins. Hardly enough time to reship for something bigger.
-cant use Orca fitting services with aggression
-MJD module used almost by everyone. Makes super difficult to catch them if they shoot at 100km. Remember you need scram to keep them.
-Safety controls will always prevent concordokken
-cant extend aggro
-links work on grid only (recent)

Im probably forgetting some things, but bottom line is: ninja salvaging is much harder. I used to bait in Enyo and relied on carebear to aggro my logi to get secondary tackle and swap enyo for a brutix or a vexor if needed. It would be hard to get aggro baiting with a cruiser. A t1 frigate is usually too weak to break tanks. Also you cant use hubs, because there will be people who actively hunt suspects. Best to operate 1-2 jumps out.

Let me know how it goes

Rogue Drone Harrassment has 3 and one other one has 1, IIRC.

There's no way to tell the mission before you probe the mark down and warp to them, although IIRC 1J from Apanake is a good spot to get these two. Sisters agents give a lot of anti-drone missions and I think they tend to be 1J from the originator.

true but probabing down a bs takes all of 30 seconds. as you suggested doing it near a SOE hub would have a high chance of finding somebody doing it.

Just be aware messing with new players doing SOE Epic Arc is prohibited, so be careful.

Pretty easy to spot them since they tend to beg for help killing the mission boss.....

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

Epic Arc is very far away from Apanake or the other 2 main hubs for a good reason
