Jita performance: Nerf local mobile depot usage?

Hey,

I've been seeing a lot of people complain about performance issues when in Jita, yes I know many will chime the smart arse "Well don't go there?" routine but for some trips to trade hubs are actually essential especially if you live in harder to access areas.

The other thing I notice pretty much constantly is the minefields of spammy mobile depots that litter around gates and stations, occasionally arranged into decorative formations for ***** and giggles or expressing creativity. Whilst some can offer mild amusement surely so many in one place is detrimental to local performance?

My suggestion is to nerf the usage of local mobile depots within the Jita system;
a) simply disable the deployment of mobile depots in Jita altogether. Since there are very rarely any anomalies spawning there.
b) prevent mobile depots from being deployed on grid of any citadel, station or celestial in Jita. A less intrusive solution that should make sure they're deployed only by those who actually NEED to use them.
c) Introduce a maximum number of depots that can be deployed on grid at one time. Same effect as the above, different approach.

Just to make things clear, any given solution would only apply to Jita or perhaps other high traffic trade hubs to help with performance, lag and general annoyance. They would deploy normally everywhere else.

Mobile depots have legitimate uses beyond anom running. Refitting in space while prosecuting a war, for example.

That said, I think you'd find very few complaints if you restricted deploying a mobile depot on the same grid as a station in High Sec space.

Most of the performance hit here is going to simply be on the local machine loading and rendering objects in space, not on the server node itself. The Jita node is capable of handling far more people than it generally has to support, and Mobile Depots are fairly cheap all things considered.

Realistically though your friends could just turn off certain brackets (like mobile depots) and zoom out and probably see most of the issue disappear.
