Hey so I'm just throwing this out there. I realize overview might be a solid block of code, and this might be impossible. Maybe development-wise, this is the same thing as separate overview tabs. But just in case it's not, maybe this type of overview structure is more feasible compared to separating overview tabs.

With overview sorting I usually only need the top four or five entries. I've asked for separate overview tabs in the past, but even that would be wasted space (with overview headers and column names for separate tabs).

What I'd like are containers within overview that hold different filters. After all, Overview is basically a set of filters on the deluge of telemetry available.

This way you could keep different overview filters at the ready, and use them for more situational awareness and faster response.

I also suggest allowing a primary and secondary column pin where overview sorts based on first and second priority, and any regular column clicks are tertiary sorting priority. So I could click the "Type" column repeatedly until Sabres comes up, then pin it with the primary pin button. Then I can spam click the alliance tab, and secondary pin that. Then if I click on distance, I get all Sabres from [Alliance] from near to far. Normally you only need a single priority column, but there are cases where you can use two.

yeah would be awesome. the suggestion is old though, being able to drag tabs out of the overview and make them separate windows would be great but ccp apparently designed it in a way that they can only have one list and changing it would be a lot of work.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

thanks. I'm really curious to know how overview works and why it is so unwieldy. Like does the client request the data when the overview tab is opened, or is it always there.

There's lag when you switch to, say, your whole friendly fleet so perhaps things can be pruned somehow?

i don't remember the actual reason. but since the overview was there from the start it is probably old code which makes changing it extra time consuming. But this is only a guess.

Looks like a workable idea. with some good functional possibilities Alas, since I gave up holding my breath for those promised customizable overview icons, I'm lacking the oomph to help CCP futz with any further Overview changes/testing for a while longer.
