A message to the Angels (Punitive Expedition report)

Yesterday I have received a message from Vincent Pryce, called himself a Domination Seraphim. According to the regulation, I can not publish its contents there, however I can say, that it included threats against State civilians.

As an officer of Caldari State, who swore to protect the State, I would like to remind you about our policy: we do not negotiate with pirates, and no demands will be met.

Moreover, as a consequence of Mr. Pryce's threat and another Angel representative assasination attempt, after a request to Caldari Navy and on their behalf a Punitive Expedition has been issued to cleanse Angel presence from Uchomida solar system of Black Rise region of Caldari State.

As a result of the operation, the following ships have been destroyed:

20 frigates;
6 destroyers;
5 cruiser;
26 battlecruisers;
38 Battleships, among them designated:
10 as Warlord,
7 as War General,
6 as Malakim,
5 as General,
4 as Commander,
2 as Saint,
2 as Throne,
1 as Nephilim and
1 as Seraphim.

Besides ships there were demolished:

over 20 turrets;
a scanner post;
a tactical outpost;
6 storage facilities;
3 landing pads;
3 cargo rigs;
a gas storage silo;
a radio telescope;
an asteroid mining post;
an asteroid colony;
a pulsating power generator;
an angel bunker
and even the whole Angel Battlestation.

Let it be a message to all the Angels and other space trash who will dare to mess with Caldari Officers. We won't go easy and subtle on you. The punishment for piracy is DEATH.

Glory to the State!

Honored are the dead, for their legacy guides us.

Perhaps you'd like to mention the reasons that certain Cartel operatives are gunning for you?

Didn't an Amarr loyalist run you through with a sword for your recent words and actions?

It takes a rare talent to p*ss off the Amarr Bloc and the Cartel in one fell swoop. I personally haven't seen that level of neolithic Caldari incompetence since Heth was in charge.

I will leave you with these three things to consider.

A strike against Amarr is like unto treason to the State, for duels of Empires always take precedent.

God and Empire are eternal.

Good thing killmails are not allowed here.

We could be talking about battles in space between pilots instead of rat kills.

Good, that means they will be within our guns reach.

So you completed an agent mission or two against the Cartel? I'm married to Vincent and he doesn't get too pissed off at me when I do that for Amarrian agents.

You're going to have to try harder to get the Cartel's notice sweetheart.They're the oldest pirate organization in the cluster, their reach is the limit of K-space. I've often wondered if the dregs the security agents send capsuleers up against are just the dead weight dragging the organization down. The failures without a retirement plan more comprehensive than "guard that illegal stargate against whatever"

You'll have to do better than that Kimmie. I've offed more Angels than that on a lazy Sunday afternoon and without the need to run to the IGS to brag about it.

It's almost adorable how Kim has such a simplistic view of the Cartel. Also, how she thinks that has anything more than a symbolic impact.

The Cartel has bigger enemies and friends than that. Sometimes, the same people belong to both groups.

I certainly won't denigrate Diana for going and dealing with the particular flavor of pirate she was tasked with hunting. But at the same time: 95 ships.

As I've said before, Delve is still on track to exceed 20,000,000 Blood Raider vessels destroyed in December alone.

No-one should even begin to underestimate the scope of these organizations.

For those who have foolishly assumed that I wanted to drown Angels in blood just by one operation, I now will explain the message that was delivered.

It was 95 dead ships whose destruction was caused just by a word of an Angel pirate against State officer.

This is a reply to a threat: the preemptive action. And those, who haven't realized that and made me to write this reply to explain it, shall feel shame.

Well, you did good I guess, though you are claiming victory for something that is basically is a paper cut(if that even) and treating it like you stabbed them. The message isn't necessarily bad but not exactly a huge blow, to pride or physically...

It's not as if you're likely to listen to me, Kim, but Vincent Pryce is a very old acquaintance of mine. In fact, he often claims that I was the one who first taught him to fight. As one who's very familiar with him, allow me to offer a word of advice, genuine advice that I don't expect or desire that you repay me for. I wouldn't usually give advice on how to fight an old friend, especially to you, but if State civilians are in danger - and if Vincent Pryce really threatened them, then they most certainly are - I'm willing to put aside my pride for their sake.

If Vincent Pryce has threatened to do something, he absolutely intends to do it. Not only that, but he's absolutely capable of doing it. The man is excellent at gauging his own capabilities, and doesn't make threats he knows he can't deliver on. He is utterly ruthless in pursuit of his goals. He was the one who started the battle of Asakai - one of New Eden's largest and most catastrophic battles - because he so dearly wanted to be on a Titan killmail that he HIC-jammed its jumpdrive with almost no support ships on the field. When we ran together, he flew into the range of a Hyperion's guns in an untanked Blackbird just to bait it into engaging for long enough for the rest of our fleet to kill it. He's not always successful and his plans are rarely rational, but he will absolutely dedicate everything he has to see his goals accomplished.

It'll take something very serious to deter him from that course of action. With respect, your efforts are insufficient. Killing a few Angels who aren't even capsuleers won't stop him; if anything, it'll amuse him. He'll continue to provoke you in hopes of getting you to do it again. This topic you've written was probably part of his plan; I suspect he wanted to goad you into doing something like this. Financial loss will not deter him, as I happen to know he's both exceptionally rich and exceptionally unconcerned with the possibility of ceasing to be rich. He will continue until he's either achieved his goal, or the prospect of achieving it no longer provides him sufficient entertainment.

If civilian lives really are threatened and you are sufficiently dedicated to their survival, I do, however, know of a method by which the problem might be gotten rid of.

The story I received and that Kim is avoiding, is basically, she threatened the life of a woman and her newborn children. Certain people within the Amarr Loyalist Bloc and the Cartel who were witness to these ravings took offense and decided to take steps to prevent this from happening.

As I said, it takes a rare talent to anger both groups simultaneously.

I'm sure the facts of the matter are available, should you choose to seek them out.

If I know Vincent, he'd likely thank you for thinning the herd a little.

Or is it a flock? What is the collective name for a group of angels? A host?

For the first time since I started the conversation, he looks me dead in the eye. In his gaze are steel jackhammers, quiet vengeance, a hundred thousand orbital bombs frozen in still life.

I have this sense that you are saying this and expecting somebody to feel intimidated. Truly, I can appreciate that: you're standing up in defense of a group of people you care about. At some level, I find it admirable.

But I think you're seriously misjudging the scale of the Cartel, its existing operations, and the level of conflict it already has with other capsuleers. If you refocused all of your combat focus on the Cartel, they still would barely take notice in comparison with the conflict within Republic space (not to mention their nullsec operations).

Not to mention: the Dominations in general (even apart from Pryce) don't necessarily react to signals the way you seem to expect, in part because their goals are hidden and their methods often more so.
