is Equipment Ore Compression still a thing?

It used to be that you could move more ore around by either making or holding onto certian items because the reprocessed ore volume was greater than the volume of the item thus allowing us to move more ore around.


Is this still a thing? Did this get corrected in a previous patch? If it hasn't been fixed what are some modern resources for locating better information.

Just figured I'd touch base on it

When Star base (and then citadel) structures were released to make compressing ore open to the masses this stopped being a thing.

At the same time CCP changed the reprocessing mechanic to build in a lot more waste. It is now a money looser no matter how you look at it. Moving compressed ore is more efficient.

This was killed off with the major reprocessing changes in May 2014. No more 425mm railguns for you.

But as already noted, compression is pretty convenient now.

Ore compression can get to around 25 times compression, which is on a par with what you could get with 425mm railguns.
