Hi, I was toying with the idea of a VNI that would use drones at very long ranges. Here's the fit I came up with:

I can target and control drones from 100 km of distance, and the drones do 228 dps. I am also cap stable with the MWD. It has no tank at all, but I think the extreme range can compensate for it.

Is this fitting useful or it will get destroyed easily?

It will take forever for your drones to get to the target and back again (they will be targeted and you will have to recall them).

Why do not you want to use rails fited Gnosis? It has good agility and just put couple of hyperspatial velocity optimizer rigs to get same warp speed

You should be relatively safe without a tank so long as you keep range (which shouldn't be hard with your MWD).

However, even with the drone navigation mods, your drones will take a long time to get to your targets at that range, and when they start taking damage it will take them a long time to get back to you, especially at the speeds you'll be moving. So, while you'll be safe, you won't be very efficient.

If you're 'ratting in hisec or running up to level 2 missions, I would suggest that you just fit a more traditional tank instead of trying for range/speed tanking.

Two big problems with your fitting in relation to what the OP requested -
1. If he wants any tank it would be a PVE tank. That would be an active armor tank or an active or passive shield tank, but not a passive armor tank.
2. Alpha clones can't use sentry drones.

OP should just fit a strong active armor tank and short range weapons imo. Sniping without sentry drones presents problems already mentioned by above posters.

Rule #1, if you're cap stable, then you're doing it wrong. Don't go for cap stability. Cap stability with out propulsion and booster mods is fine.

Ah, I didn't know sentry drones cannot be used. That explains the short-ranged weapons and active tank. In that case an VNI is probably not much use.
