I am experiencing the same thing. Trying to launch evelauncher.exe directly from EVE\launcher directory did not work for me.

EDIT: Running updater.exe and/or fixpermission.exe (I ran both) resolved this issue for me, as well.

Same here. My launcher won't open. If I click ignore it closes.

After I ran updater.exe from EVE\launcher directory it seemed to fix it. That or fixpermissions.exe

I may be running the updater wrong. When I double click the file in the EVE directory, a small C prompt screen flashes and disappears. The same for the fixpermissions file. When I tried the launcher, I still get the same issues. Is there a specific way to run those files?

UPDATE: I clicked cancel on the certificate error notice and the launcher remained up and I was able to log in. Looks like the error message stays after you run those two files.

Had the same problem. Running updater then running the launcher directly after forced eve into a patch update mode. Thanks for good thinkers.

running loglite.exe and then evelauncher.exe did not work, same error

running updater.exe also did not work (log shows invalid arguments).

running fixpermissions.exe then evelauncher.exe did work, then the launcher loaded and updated.

I've run all the suggested fixes to no effect.

Still getting the error and failed launcher.

I cannot log in to clear the cache file - can this be done outside the game?

Ok, I am on a mac and dont see any fix app?

I solved the problem on my mac, by going into the apps folder and right clicking on the EVE app "show package contents"

Contents (folder)
...MacOs (folder)
......evelauncher (app)

launched it and it worked. Hope it helps you mac users

had the same error on windows platform

running loglite.exe and then evelauncher.exe did not work, same error

running updater.exe also did not work (log shows invalid arguments).

running fixpermissions.exe then evelauncher.exe didn't work, same error,

added a new shortcut to desktop from folder containing eve.
right clicked on the new shortcut and selected properties
location\Launcher\evelauncher.exe added -d to the end so it read location\Launcher\evelauncher.exe -d and was able to download the new patch. With the basic launcher open with -d, i ran the normal eve launcher shortcut from desktop (opening a second instance of eve launcher) and received the error, but the launcher still opened, from there I was able to open the shared cache settings and run verify intedrity of downloaded files as well as fix permissions from within the launcher worked to fixed my issue.

Just got this, verifying the integrity now.

It may be a coincidence, but this occurred for me after I had been playing for several hours and lost the connection due to a socket issue. For several minutes after that, I couldn't access anything on the eveonline.com domain.
