I have both an old account (alpha state now but got subscription some years ago) and a brand new account created after Ascension.

Well, some players could create new 12-months paid accounts each year for 99.96โ‚ฌ(8.33/m), and then transfer old characters to it for what they save in game for that 12-months to cut that 30โ‚ฌ from 10.95/m plan and paid cheaper for the same.

edit: it would have even more sense if 21-day trials would still be a thing.
