No further news since that devblog more than 18 months ago now.

We don't know if CCP are still planning on observatory arrays (there have been lots of changes in the design and thinking about structures since that devblog), nor when they will be released if CCP are still intending on them.

Next up in terms of the structures are the drilling platforms (not before April 2017 at least) and I wouldn't expect the observatory arrays to be part of that, but who knows.

iirc they will be deployed after Drilling Platforms.

DPs have been delayed until late 2017. So.... yeah.

Late 2017 for drilling platforms? Observatory arrays are coming after the drilling platforms?

I guess this is where I say "posting in a stealth cloaky camper whine thead". This is actually where the OP wants to be.

And yea, probably no 'insta-decloak' button for you until 2018-ish, guess the complainers will have to learn how to use local and rat/mine in home defense fleets (oh the horror).

I don't like cloaky camping either (I'm a ratter, I rat with nice things), but I recognize it as a balance factor. Last month people ratting in null pumped something close to 40 TRILLION isk into EVE (CCP once said that null ratting accounts for something like 80% of bounties, and bounties last motnh were 50 trillion isk). Without cloaky camping and the risk of hot drops, that number would be WAY higher, I'd personally see to it.

So be glad cloaky campers exist, it's one of the few things keeping the isk in your wallet from becoming Zimbabwe dollars.

There's a vast body of evidence to teach you to never believe CCP when they announce new features, at least until they hit SISI, and realistically, TQ.

Funny really, as such tools would be one of the biggest benefits to "owning your space" they could possibly do.

As long as you can get rid of local in null by destroying them, I'm cool with being able to hunt cloaked ships with them. You can't nerf cloaking in sov null without nerfing local.

I think if we look at alot of those items we see modifed versions emerging, and some of these are very long term goals.

Those observation arrays should be i hope difficult to get and deploy, or expensive to operate, simply because cloaky neuts in local are a thing in EVE as much as they are anoying, so are many things.

Once we starting making it too easy then it isn't EVE anymore.

AFK Nullsec ratting shouldn't be risk free!
