What are you supposed to do against destroyers with interdiction?

You're an alpha, exploring out in nullsec in your frigate, the most you can fly with with your meagre income. Your wits have kept you safe thus far, away from nasty tech II frigate and destroyers.

You go through a gate and into what? there's a sabre waiting on the other side, and out pops the interdiction sphere. What now? You can run back to the gate... but the sabre follows and drops another sphere. you can activate you micro warp drives and align to a planet... but the sabre follows, and drop another sphere. One. every. five. seconds.

Now he's got you with a warp disruptor and you can't even use your micro warp drive. It's over. and for what? you went through a gate. spin the the wheel, oh it's a sabre. **** you. you're dead.

What you have as Alpha is a trial nothing more, that's intended so and it is good and right so......

You cannot play with the big boys, you shall not and you should not be allowed.....

you CAN'T do anything beside having luck (your wits as you call it) but even with a subscription.....if you are caught you are caught...

But beeing caught in an omega ship gives you omega opportunities....

If not....simply get used to the preyrole.....or buy a subscription and become predator.....

Thinking -hey, i pay nothing.but i want to do and get the same things as a paid account - is so typical for ftp players(i don't blame you doing that) but ...

no simply no.....this is eve....

The good thing about being an alpha is that your lost isk value in your ship is fairly low and one good exploration site will not only pay for 1 but potentially 20 or more ships, so really you can lose a ton of them and still be coming out with positive Isk.

Being killed sucks, but the sooner you realise its never as bad as it initially feels the better you will feel about being in null and being killed.

If I could offer any kind of advice it would be to pick your area of space carefully, explore space your corp or alliance own until your more experience in travelling through the region, another nice thing to do is track and record gate camps when you see them, you will often find people can be very predictable, just like your own corp others have days and times that they set aside to gatecamp if you record them and track them you can learn to avoid them.

good luck in eve, I'm not an Alpha but still very newbro myself and I'm still learning, dont give up.

rubbish. utter, complete tosh.

if you want to go and check out 0.0 space, go wild. don't let anyone tell you otherwise. i moved to sov null with a mighty 2m SP and nothing trained an Alpha can't.

There's corps based in 0.0 and even wormhole space who can find something useful and profitable for a newbro Alpha to do.

And now pray excuse while I lapse into aphorism: The best ship in EVE is Friendship.

Die quietly and with dignity.
Then give a gf! (Good Fight or even gg- Good Gank) in local and mail the guy to thank him for the fun and ask if theres any advice he could give in avoiding a similar fate next time you meet.
Grind out some isk ( missions, story arcs, scanning, mining) buy a better ship and then go back and blow up the pesky sabre that has been troubling you ( if you manage it make sure you behave with the same dignity in victory as you did in defeat).

What NOT to do - Whinge on the forums about being an Alpha ( It is your choice to be an alpha), mention your meager income (there are opportunities to make isk for alphas and omegas, being an omega doesnt automatically fill your wallet with isk. Both clone states require that you actually work to get isk).

Ignore the elitists that think you can't play hardball as an alpha. You can. I recently lost a Curse to two T1 cruisers. Make a friend and travel together. Maybe you can kill the next solo Sabre you come across.

When I jump through a gate, and there's stuff on the other side that I know is gonna kill me, I go for the throat. If I'm going down, I'm not making it easy on them, and if I can, I'm taking something down with me. Sometimes, that kind of aggression can scare opponents off, thinking you might be cyno bait. I've survived a few gate camps doing this, but most not. I've only been through maybe two gate camps that something hasn't died to me on though before I went down myself.

Don't run. Don't let them smell blood. Make them nervous, and go for the throat. Being an alpha does not make you prey. Running away does.

op is referring to a "solo situation, being an explorer"
with a corp and a fleet obviously it's all another thing. but yea...

Sometimes you loose. That's a fact in Eve. There isn't always a counter. Take a look a titan kills, these are pilots in a 100+B Isk ship and they can just sit there an watch while they get chewed to pieces.
Give him a "gf" and hope for the best next time. A good idea is to take a look at the map and watch for "kills in the last hour". Many gate camps show up there because some guys before you have been unlucky. If you are the first one: bad luck.

Phase Inverters are the racial ECM that blocks Minmatar ships. Like the "'Gambler' Phase Inverter"

First off, if you're going to go down, go down fighting. Doesn't matter what you're in, if it has guns, use them. The only way you don't stand a chance is if you do nothing. Also, while most players will go after any available target, what we really want is a good fight. Many times, I've had my lowsec roam losses reimbursed by the people who blew me up because I was cool with being totally outclassed.

Now, as to that particular scenario. If you're intention is to crash the gate and run away, you need to wait for aggro before you jump back through the gate. This is very important, and will be explained. Instead of clicking jump and approaching the gate, orbit it at 500m. This will put your approach to something very close to flying directly at it, but will leave your orbit distance close enough to jump.

What you're waiting for is for him to activate some other module on you besides the bubble, whether it be guns, point, webs, whatever. You need to wait til he has weapons timer before you jump, then he has to wait 60s before he can follow. If you're in a fast ship and hit the gate before he begins his attack, he'll just follow you like you said.

Look into a ship upgrade. If you'd had a talwar or a stabber, he'd be the one looking for a way out.

Don't know what you googled, but when I googled "eve online phase inverter" I got nothing resembling any kind of RMT. Just some links regarding the ECM module.

I think he gets a weapon timer when dropping a sphere, so he cant follow you if you make your way back to the gate.
and if yoy really dont like sabres, get a cruiser.and blow him up. It's still just a destroyer anyway.

He only has 3 bubbles before he has to reload. Jump back to the gate a few times and the first bubble will start to disappear and he won't have the time to reload if he wants to keep up with you

I knew full well by making this thread I'd get a bunch of people calling me a wining alpha that shouldn't be in nullsec.

So props to this guy for a great response. now I know there's a way out this situation, which is what i was asking in the first place.
