Jumping for new missions or am I missing something?

Good afternoon all o7

So, Just finished the "starter" missions of each type in Gallente space, I think I know what I would like to do. Still making the "to sub or not" decision (really depends on my wife's job search), but figured I could have fun and play while I wait to sub!

Looking for agents of the next step, I see that some for the Sisters of Eve are closer (like 4-8 jumps), but some are 10 jumps or more away. If I want to go (and I know it may not be safe...), what should I do with the rest of my ships?

Do I package and take what I can on that one Industry ship I got from the mission line? Do i sell them because they are all fairly "cheap" and just pick my favorite and go?

Or do I go forward to my chosen mission agent and just leave my items behind, mothballed in case I ever want to create a contract to have them brought to me?

Also, the Sisters of Eve "Epic Arc" - When should I do that? or does it eventually pop up like "HI DO THIS NOW?"

And I know this is a silly question but... As a new player, should I join a corp? I want to be close to agents, because I do not know yet how much I will be playing... I like the solo aspect... but if it's more beneficial...

Thank you all for your assistance o7

This is the only question you asked that will matter in a few weeks time. EVE stands and falls with the players you play with. My CEO just send me of to a secret mission. The best you can hope to see from any NPC is to be send to grind some ISK.

There are dozens of threads on the topic of a single home-base or multiple ones. It all comes down to your preference.

Example: I keep a jump clone at my mission stations, along with ships. I just clone jump when I feel like doing missions.

The SoE epic arc "The Blood-Stained Stars" starts at Sister Alitura in Arnon. It can be repeated every 3 months. To complete it, you will either need a cruiser or friends (ask in local when all else fails), however most of it can be completed in a destroyer; expect to be hauling small stuff all over.

There is no need for you to bring all of your stuff with you. There is no reason that you can't leave stuff where it is and just move on. I have stuff at old mission running locations that I used to spend time at which I have not been to in years.

Play the game and have fun and don't worry about your "stuff". If you have a need to move something somewhere then worry about that then.

My stuff is all over the place and I live everywhere. Except for a few ships in Nullsec, I could get to most of my stuff easily and quickly. Unless you are so poor that you can't buy another frigate, I'd say just leave the starter crap where it is, grab your Catalyst and go. Going back to your stash is a matter of 15 minutes if you stay in empire space.

The Sisters arc can be done at any point. It's designed to be doable by rookies, and with a few exceptions you should be able to get through it without trouble. I recommend a Tristan or Algos with rails, but bring blasters so you can refit and get in close for more DPS as there may be one or two tough ones you may not be able to crack easily with low SP. The starter agent is Sister Alitura, Arnon IX - Moon 3 - Sisters of EVE Bureau. At the end of the arc you can select which empire faction you'd like to get a standing boost with. If you select the same faction you completed the carreer agents for, you should be able to access all level 2 agents, or very close. Just in case you'd like to keep running missions. Just know that missionrunning is the secondmost boring way to make money in Eve.

On the topic of travelling - making 30 gate jumps in Hisec is usually "safe", as long as you wouldn't drop anything worthwhile in case of an unexpected rapid disassembly of your ship. Travelling with a T1 frigate or destroyer is usually not a problem at all. Industrials on the other hand are a different matter. I don't think you have anything of value at the moment, so the risk of getting ganked is low, but if you fly an untanked industrial full of stuff, it may provoke an attack even if your cargo isn't worth much.

Losec and Nullsec are different beasts alltogether. Especially if you have never been there, they can be a bit dangerous, even in cheap ships. That doesn't mean you shouldn't go there - quite the contrary. If you go there, however, be prepared to not return with your ship in one piece.

What gfldex is also quite important. It's harder than it sounds, though. Finding a good bunch of people to play with can be one of the most difficult and at the same time most important things to do in Eve. I recommend you get involved with people, and you'll soon learn how little those few ships you have right now matter. I'd also recommend to not hesitate and leave if a corp doesn't work for you. Just tell them how things are, and I doubt anybody will hold a grudge.

Leave the stuff behind for now unless you need it.
If you cannot afford to replace it that is an even better reason to leave it for now.
When you do have to move a lot of stuff it is better to move it in many small trips than one large one, that way if the worst happens and you meet a quick and unplanned ship loss you do not lose everything. Also the lower value of the stuff ion your hold the less likely you are to be ganked simply for your stuff. Not likely you would be ganked for a cargo hold of new player related stuff but it is still a good habit to learn for later when you may be hauling more expensive stuff.

Everyone always says go forth to your closest SOE agent to run missions, in a general sense I disagree with that.
If you want to maximize your LP / to ISK conversion, or you want to increase your SOE standings then you go run for an SOE agent. Otherwise stay in your local area, pick an NPC corp that has a wide range of agents reasonably close and run missions for them.

The Blood Stained Stars SOE epic arc is a valuable thing to go and do as soon as you think you are ready for it, this lik will help you prepare for that adventure.

As University of Caille, your stuff will be in Trossere which is 6 jumps from the Gallente trade hub Dodixie. Fit one of your Nereus with the expanded cargoholds you got from the business missions, repackage the ships you don't want, haul them to Dodixie and sell them. I recommend keeping the Tristan and a Venture if you will do any mining. There are lots of agents within a few jumps of where you are use http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Sinq_Laison#sec to find them.

The SOE Epic Arc is a 50 mission chain, most are level 1 with a couple of more difficult missions at the end. I recommend you train some drone skills and use an Algos for most of the Arc. Upgrade to a Vexor for the final missions. You can leave your stuff where it is when you run the Arc. It will take you on a tour of New Eden, all you need is your mission ship.
