Command Ships in solo play

Hello!

Apparently skill requirements needed to sit in Command Ships have been lowered in Ascension update. That's great! Therefore I have started thinking intensively about grabbing one. However I know almost nothing about this class so I ask you if CS are good in solo PvP and PvE and if so, which one is the best? I can only train one racial BC to V.

Thanks!

I mean most versatile CS: PvE and PvP. Hint - I have T2 drones, heavy missiles and medium hybrid turrets already trained.

I looked at those ships and let's assume the choice is among Eos, Astarte, Damnation, Nighthawk and Vulture.

OK! As for now I've decided to pick up Black Ops battleship. Maybe CS will reappear in my sight later. Lol

Both are fine ships.

CCP, please either fix the Nighthawk or put it out of its misery.

True.

I'd sooner fly a Drake.

For your skills, I would suggest the Claymore. Strong self-rep. Nice big drone bay/bandwidth. And nice bonuses to heavy missiles or HAMS

Out of the ships you've listed, EOS is actually the one I've flown the most before the boosting changes. Now that you can boost yourself even solo (if I understand the changes correctly), it should be an excellent all arounder. Astarte has always been an awesome ship too with very nice DPS/tanking potential in one package.

Other ships you've mentioned, in my personal opinion at least, are too lacking in DPS for solo work. But oh well, I haven't PvPed in over a year now, so what I say may be pretty outdated with all the changes and what not.

You may argue on the merits of flying 'brawling' ships for solo work, but I do not find that CS make good kitey ships, maybe with exception of Sleipnir with full snakes & self boosting for speed, but these days so many HACs and Faction Cruisers are around and people get very good speeds on them, it may not work so well if you try to out kite these ships in a CS.

So if you were going for solo brawling (sounds stupid but can be very fun), I think Astarte/EOS hits the sweet spot between tank/DPS balance, at least when I used to fly them. :p

For PVE though, I would not recommend any of them. For example, I see no reason to fly a Nighthawk over a Tengu for PVE (or even PVP for that matter...), and no reason to fly an EOS over an Ishtar. Sleip may be better than Loki for PVE, but Loki isn't exactly a stellar PVE ship.

And well, as you've mentioned in mid-posts that you're now going for BLOPs, which are totally different ships, I don't think you're that committed to flying a CS. Whatever lower skill requirement they have now, just like any T2 ships (or just any ships in general), you really want that CS V if you are serious about flying them. It does require some skill training time commitment (or ISK for injectors).

Cheers Love! The cavalry's here!
