Ship Blown up + pod before exiting warp - Not a bug?

Hi Capsuleers,

Does anyone else experience small bugs like the following;

Executing a MWD cloak perfectly, the cloak animation going off then over a couple of server ticks seeing yellow;red;dead?
But not just dead, already podded and session change is in action?

In warp and then before even finishing warp being dead?

I run an I7 GTX970 with an 100mbs down 2.5 up connection in AUTZ.
If anyone could shine some light, is this typical behaviour?
I Will need to adjust how i fly if so.

Thanks for any help.

Any chance you got smartbombed?

The first example was not smartbombing, it was on a gatecamp and the cloak was active.

The second was a smart bomb, but on my screen the word warping was still at max on the navigation panel.
Do you need to land on grid to be smartbombed or can you be destroyed in warp now?

You can get destroyed by smartbombs while in warp. That's why warping directly to a gate with smartbombers in a fragile ship is a death sentence. You are destroyed when arriving on grid but still in warp and unable to react.

In the first case you likely got decloaked by something before being able to actual enter warp.

There was nothing withing 10km in the first case.

Is there any known reports of client sided lag?
Does anyone un-dock and not load the grid as soon as other people have vision of their ship?

Situation 1 could have been a smart bomber decloaking and immediately blapping you. Since they don't need lock they can kill you instantly from cloak if you are in a frigate. Next time check your combat logs.

AUTZ as in Australia? you'll have fairly high latency to the servers compared to most players and can potentially see a higher amount of discrepancies in what happens from your perspective versus other players.

Sometimes stuff happens in Eve that the game just can't sync fast enough as well - I've seen a friend playing right next to me who on his screen had gotten off another couple of cycles of local reps in triage before his client told him he was dead while on my screen he was already dead by the first armour cycle.

Actually, this is a myth. I live in Brisbane, Aus, and get less than 50ms latency, and my internet is terrible. Most Australians get away with the excuse of 'bad lag' when they lose a fight because people will believe it, and bad lag can definitely happen, especially on our 60+ year old copper, but most of the time, latency is not the problem.

Last time I checked the Eve servers are in London - you'll have around 300ms base latency or so before any local routing, etc. on your end to deal with.

The OPs recent ship + pod deaths were in/around events like M-O so not surprising they'd be seeing issues with how loaded down those nodes would have been - the most recent pod death looks like he was in a hic bubble.

ok, download speed and your gaming rig specs are 100% irrelevant when it comes to latency. AUTZ has known issues with lag. It simply comes from being on the opposite side of the planet as the servers.

Actually that article is woefully out of date. The Australian National Broadband Network has been expanding at a reasonable pace since that article was written in the areas where there's population to support it. If you're one of the 2% living out in the hinterlands, then yes, you probably have terrible Internet still, but in the cities, from what my Aussie friends tell me, it's actually much better than it was a few years ago.

Hi Guys,

The first loss was definitley not smart bombers - it was a gatecamp of some 8 t2 and t1 cruisers.
I had MWD'd away from the gate, cloak was active and overview correctly setup - Nothing inanimate decloaked me.
The reds, whilst i was cloaked, seemed to go from yellow box to red within a server tick like the client was "catching up" and then i was podded. No time to eject, no time to re approach gate. I couldn't even tell you what was on grid! i had time whilst cloaked to check i was correctly aligned to a random celestial!!!

That didn't upset me as much as the smartbombing on the gate.
It happened in highsec - and i have a sneaking suspision i was undocked for a lot longer than the 2s on my screen!
Has anyone else suffering from client side latency issues - IE My screen and your screen are showing different states?
Has anyone ever undocked and been cargo scanned in an instawarp inty or leo & not known about it? can they lock you up and scan you before entering warp NORMALLY? - i was not afk.

I'm an AUTZ player & have noticed similar issues.

One happened when my son (playing in the same house) who likes to try & gank me appeared on my monitor. I was able to get a fair volley off before he even locked me. He said (between expletives) that he was still showing as in warp as I got target lock.
