POS vs Citadel for solo player

So I was thinking,
From my short research it seems that every module I got on a POS has more bonuses than the equivalent EC, also, the price is definitely higher. For a small POS I pay 10FB/hour and I got to fit all the modules I need.

So the question is, do I miss something? Aside of that is it convenient to dock to a citadel and maybe a couple of additional advantages, should I even consider moving?

Thanks!

If your calculations show that the new material bonus offsets the higher fuel costs + gives you higher profits and you don't care about decreased safety

-> Go for engineering complex.

You are missing that ECs are meant to replace POSes and not be options. One day POSes will go and you will have NPC stations and ECs to choose from.

That's what you should look at

The latest revision to Eve Updates has pushed Drilling Platforms out to next fall so POS aren't going away for a while though CCP could start to reduce the bonus to "encourage" migration.

My calculations show a Raitaru with 3 engineering service modules and 3 T1 rigs will cost 2.5 billion and consume 27 fuel blocks/hour. That's roughly 10 times what I paid for my small POS and not quite 3 times as much fuel. Activities that benefit from the rigs have a slightly better bonus, other activities, the POS is better. I use my POS for invention, copying and manufacturing so I would need 3 service modules to duplicate my current functionality at an EC.

I expect CCP will iterate on the design as they see how the structures are actually being used and I believe that's why they are slowed the release of new structures.

I opened an office in a public EC a week ago and use it for ME/TE research - I don't have a standard lab at my POS. The EC has rigs for those activities and the system has a low system cost index for research so I am very happy with the results thus far. My BPO's are protected by asset safety so, if the EC blows up I am out the job cost and the inconvenience of lost time.

My concept of what my business will look like when POS go away is still evolving. I don't do enough production/research to justify the cost of an EC and I'm not currently interested in becoming a landlord in game, so I will probably end up renting.

It's been announced a bit ago, so better get used to the new meta and adapt.

For the love of...

POS and outposts are not the same thing at all. The above links have nothing to do with POS. I'll be shocked if POS are phased out before 2018 and not the least bit surprised if they're still around in 2019.

Same. CCP said in every occasion that only once the new drilling patforms and all the other services actually available to pos owners will be rolled out and established as a valid alternative, only then they will START the phasing out procedure, which will last long enough to give time to all actual pos owners to move their stuff and activities efficiently and with no harm (as much as possible).

What this means is that even after the drilling platforms will be in game, there will be a lot of time (months at least) in which actual moon miners will have to move to these new structures and see how it pans out. It's not that the day drilling platforms are seeded in the market pos will be removed.

So, it's gonna happen probably during 2018 and eventually by the end of that year POS will be removed.

I think the one thing about ECs that attracts me is asset safety.

My POS does all that I want at this time & is cheaper. If I get war dec'd I can pull the tower down & safe up my assets (although I lose some jobs in the process).

I cannot access my PC every single day so I moving to renting space in a nearby EC with enough bonuses to satisfy my needs. I do believe that CCP should look at formalising landlord/tenant rights with citadels - simple month to month rental is a tad vague for my liking.

As is the case in most of what happens in EvE, it is a balancing act between maximising profit versus safety.
