love what you did with the orca..but im having trouble "fitt'nis" capital afterburner on it.

the orca is too large for a bs burner, but too small for a cap burner (grid wise). yet it take 2 pulses to enter warp. you have to micro manage your burner.

we could solve this easily by either giving it a reduction in fittings for the cap burner, or a burner boost per level.
goal: to be able to reach warp with 1 pulse form the burner like every other ship ive flown...even the chunky rorqual.

that works perfectly well with an MWD

orcas are no longer classed as capitals and besides it's not like they are meant to move all that fast

iirc capitals align and warp better with undersized propmods as the cycle timer is shorter

Calm down miner. As you pointed out, people think they can get away with stuff they would not in rl... Like for example illegal mining... - Ima Wreckyou*

You're not supposed to be able to fit a capital prop-mod on an Orca. It gets a massive increase in speed from either a Capital AB or MWD, to the point that it's clear they're over-sized prop mods for a slow industrial ship like the Orca.

wait... you came here deciding that the orca wasn't good enough but hadn't even tested an mwd?

op the new grids fit mwd much better now. Fit depending of course. I only haul, no highs. gets me some grid to load up the mids tank wise now with mwd.

Old orca...you could squeeze in a named mwd. Barely....

Orca is can not fit Capital shield extender ether. This happens when you have a "capital" ship which can live in highsec.

Just use an MWD.

Unless they changed something in the Orca's stats you can perfectly fine 1 cycle one into warp with a MWD... Do it all the time (or well, i DID do it all the time when i still played)

as i recall, the burner is the only one that gets the cycle time reduction with skill level.
i never thought to try it.

however, since it was suggested earlier, i tried it and like it. so i was content to let this thread die.
since you come at me like that, the mwd barely leaves any grid left for anything useful.

however, i am just looking for travel fit, so i can leave the large rr off and just use 2 medium rr for my gecko.

it will be fine for my purposes.

thank you, that is all.

^^ This.

Unless you are fitting all the high-slots with RR, a 500 MWD will fit on an Orca perfectly fine.

Despite how it is categorized on market and how it uses some capital components to build, Orcas have never been and are still not capitals ships.

They have always used large rigs and have fitting capabilities similar to a battleship (albeit, slightly lower).

They are simply "bulkier" than a battleship.
Which is not that surprising considering that Industrial ships are technically cruisers, but are significantly slower and less mobile than a combat cruiser.

There is more to it that cycle time.

Max speed with the prop-mod and agility/acceleration/mass also have to be taken into account.

Generally speaking, MWDs work better than Afterburners to perform the sub-10 second warp trick.
