Are NPC Caravans Gone?

My Quafe supply is running low but I have not been able to find NPC caravans lately.

Pretty sure they silently removed them some time ago, can't remember why or when.

I was surprised and delighted when they changed the direction to which they warped to random points instead of other stations.

Actually, out of curiosity - were they ever ganked? If so, what kind of loot was dropped?

Trade goods -- Quafe, Oxygen, Batteries, etc.

If you did it within 75km of a station then the station guns would light you up. I kinda liked to do it in an Exequror or Nereus.

They were farmed a lot early on in game for "free" trade goods when trading in those commodities was a lot bigger income wise than it is now.

From what I remember from long ago, you had to wait until they were far away from the station (75km) but not so long that they warped off (100km? 120km?). Also lost standings with their owner NPC corp, which made it not worth it for many people.

Either got removed because there wasn't enough activity related to them, or to remove legacy code / make room for the new NPC AI.
