Do you mean achieving Master V? Or do you mean training your racial ship command skill (e.g., Minmatar Cruiser) to V?

If the former, no there is no bonus. Although you will have excellent skills to fly that ship at that point. If the latter, the Traits tab of the Info page for any ship will show you the bonuses the ships receive per level of respective command skill trained.

The bonuses are listed in the ship descriptions, i.e. look at the info for a Tristan,:

Gallente Frigate bonuses (per skill level):
7.5 % bonus to Small Hybrid Turret tracking speed
10 % bonus to Drone hitpoints and tracking speed

So for level 4 you would have a 30% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret tracking speed and 40% bonus to Drone hitpoints and tracking speed. At level 5 you would have 37.5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret tracking speed and a 50% bonus to Drone hitpoints and tracking speed.

Above poster covered it perfectly.

Training to V for the individual ship skill (ie Destroyers, Frigates, etc...) will also unlock new ships such as the Interceptors or Assault Frigates for completing Frigates V + the new ship skill to level 1.

Training above L 4 is usually a bad idea early on since the training from IV-V takes ALOT of time and brings only a small advantage. The exception would ofcourse be if you plan on training for T2 ships of the class but even then it's usually better to train up Engineering, Navigation, Drones, Gunnery or Electronic Systems skills instead.

Without proper support skill training any new fancy ship used will not be able to utilise all it's power and will be inferior to a T1-ship manned by a properly trained pilot.

A few of the T2 ships have really nice bonuses. Example, Arazu, 20% bonus to Warp Scrambler and Warp Disruptor optimal RANGE per level. Most of the time, though, another 5% damage or 5% ROF, pfft, not really worth the time to train.

Each level of a skill takes 5 times longer to train and gives no more bonus than the previous level.

So if you get a 10% per level increase of a skill and level 1 takes 10 minutes to train then you get 10% in 10 minutes. Level 2 would take 5 times that or 50 minutes so that would be 60 minutes to get from 0 to 20%. Level 3 would be 30% at the 5 hour mark. Level 4 would be 40 % at just over a day and level 5 would be 50% at a bit over 5 days.

Also each skill has a training multiplier listed in the attributes tab. If a 1 x skill takes 10 minutes for level one then a 10 x skill will take 100 minutes for level 1 ( assuming the same attributes ).

So you should be able to clearly see that early on you should be spreading your skills around and avoiding level 5's unless you absolutely need them.

Or point the mouse at it in ISIS (Ship Tree) and the infotip will say what the bonus is.

Because of the way ROF works, it's -5% to weapon cycle time on hulls (or -4% on Rapid Firing, or -2% on Gunnery), and the curve isn't quite linear. Same with the +4% to all resists per level ones, or the +5% per level vs. X damage type to the effectiveness of a passive resistance mod. And there are other bonuses which behave like this if you look for them.

Everyon has covered where to see the bonus for training say, Amarr Frigate V.

I'd point out that the "mastery" tab for any given ship is a decent guide for the skills that improve your ability with that ship. Plus, most of the skills you pick up for a Punisher (for example) are just as useful later on with bigger ships.

My buddy wants to train up to using a Paladin (t2 amarr battleship), and I put him on a skill plan of getting to mastery 4 with an Abaddon, before making the push up to T2 battleships.

Mastery 4 typically covers almost all the skills you need to use all T2 modules that are appropriate for a given ship with solid secondary skills.
