I've been working on a web application, EVE Alerter, and am needing some additional beta users. Its aims are to allow for corporations/alliances/groups to easily push out very short messages to their members over a variety of out-of-game mediums (Email, SMS, AIM, GTalk, MSN, etc). Since we can't be logged in and paying attention to EVE 100% of the time, this is a great way to rally people for ops, or let members know of upcoming planned (or un-planned) events.

EVE Alerter has reached the point where it has been in stable use for our corporation, so I'd like to rope in a few more corps/alliances/whoever to use/test/provide feedback.

How it works:

  1. User signs up to your alerter ({yoursubdomain}.evealerter.com) with their API keys.
  2. User signs up to the various topics that interest them. IE: CTAs, Roams, Emergencies, Mining (these are configurable).
  3. User may elect to receive notifications over a variety of mediums on a per-topic basis (currently only email and SMS).
  4. Anyone with broadcasting permissions may send messages over the topics, which are received by all subscribers.

Other notes:

  • Access is limited by API Key, based on which corps/alliances you elect to allow.
  • Your alerter need not be accessible to just your corporation. You can arbitrarily add other characters, corps, and alliances to the alerter's access rules.

If you are interested, send me an EVE Mail and we can go over a few things. I will not be charging for this service in the near future.

Why API keys why not just membership and subscription to groups

People tend to get signed up with the alerter, then later leave the corp/alliance. We need to cut off their access to that particular alerter instance so they can't see what's going on.

It will remain close sourced until some day.

Looking at evenotify.com, that looks to be more for stuff like "You have been wardecced" or "Your tower is under attack". EVE Alerter is more for people to say "Hey, this is going on" or "This will be going on". Mostly for getting people online. EVE Alerter is also not tied to corps/alliances, anyone can create an alerter and selectively allow characters/corps/alliances in.

Well my feedback would be add a manual group control option as API security would lead me to not recommend this service or product, sorry

Interesting idea. It would be nice to have a API that people can poke to add/remove people from the notification list, that way corp/alliances with existing access management systems could work without everyone having to readd their API keys to another third paty.

I'd definitely be open to this. Feel free to EVE Mail me should this be something your corp/alliance is interested in.
