I guess some of the renter corps are heavily into PI. It sucks in High and Null and you need someone to protect you POCOS in Null and WHs. So you are looking either for a corp with enough punch to shoot and hold POCOs or a corp that has some kind of protection and that would be renters AFAIK.

No.

PI is more like a side profession in EVE. However, many large corps/alliances do have buyback programs for the materials if you're not wanting to send the items yourself to major trade districts.

Well I'd say that PI is not so much a mainstream profession as it is a facet of industry. Many PI characters will produce a product ore two. Most do it simply to make a profit. But if you are seriously into PI then you are probably doing it for the materials - and this means doing industry.

The other major reason why it is a sidline profession is because there is only a finite number of planets each character can have. So it is not infinitely scalable. It is also rather passive, and therefore, rather than being the main thing which you spend your time on. It is simply going to be a background activity which you have generating ISK while you are doing something else.

In my corp we do a fair amount of PI, and it is possible to have a decent corporation setup making P3 and P4 products with only about 5 or 6 characters - and when you consider that many of these can be alts which you have on a single account. This means that a large corporation is infact not a requirement for a successful PI corporation. 2 or 3 Players with 3 alts each can pretty much run the whole show.

There are of course a variety of different PI strategies, and how you approach this will depend on what you are trying to accomplish. The single planet P2 strategy is pretty common. The two planet P3, or three planet P3 can also make you a lot of ISK. But you should be aware that these strategies devote a lot of planetary CPU and PG to Advanced and Hi-tech processors. Which is CPU and PG which could have otherwise gone into harvesting more resources. These strategies also have the drawback of requiring haulage of very valuable produce from lowsec regions.

If you want the best productivity then this will usually require harvesting planets, producing nothing but massive quantities of P1. Which are then shipped to P3 and P4 factory worlds located in the safety of hi-sec. Though, if you don't own it POCO, you will be loosing a lot of your profit in customs taxes. This is where large PI corporations come in... So if you're looking for a good PI corporation to join start looking for ones with decent active membership - as well as having POCO ownership on barren and temperate worlds in hi-sec. As these will have the resources for you to make the most profit.

You do pi with your main as a passive income, pi isn't a career that corps "specialise" in.

All you need is about 2mil sp in pi to max out any pi setup.
You just need a few hours to properly setup then 15 minutes every 4-5 days to move probes and haul stuff around.

1 account, 3 pi charavters, +- 1 bill isk a month, in a decent wormhole.

Other than that I wouldn't bother with pi. Especially if youre in highsec, just don't waste your lifetime with it.

Any corp that builds structure components will need massive amounts of PI. The gameplay does not encourage cooperation beyond establishing a market where people who harvest P1/P2 can sell it to people with factory planets making P3/P4. They in turn can sell their product to people making components. This works reasonably well if the corporation has a Fortizar market.

Sovereign alliances will own the POCO in their space and may set a barren or temperate planet tax free to encourage PI.

Yes, Savage Moon Society owns the POCO's and it's more of an individual basis for who's doing PI, rather than a corporate focus. Savage Moon Society is a space guild that was founded to do exploration types of Eve Online gameplay, and we always seem to end up back in wormholes lol. Since Citadels come out, we've taken a much more permanent residence.

Almost always someone else will have the wormhole chain probed for you and it's always very easy because we're guaranteed a highsec exit everyday.
