Some newbie question

Hello, I'm new to EVE Online and I want to ask some questions.

1. Is it possible to transport high capacity containers to asteroid belts, which is capacity is 100x higher than my industrial ship? If it is, then how can I do that?

2. Can I get 500kk ISK in 30 days (if I started from 0)?

3. Does the epic ark quests have any significance? I mean is it worth to follow it or should I keep mining and upgrade, learn skills etc.?

Thank you for your answers.

1) No, the best you can do is Giant Secure Containers, those only are 3,900. You can spawna jet can that has 27,500m3 but they only last 2 hours and are ANYTHING but secure

2) Yes but that depends on what activity you do, as a newb from day one mining then no

3) They are not required but they are a nice perk to run for some one really new. The SoE arc will pay out enough in the end to get yourself your first cruiser and it gives a decent faction standing gain at the end too,

1) no, if you jettison something it creates a container with some 27k m3 but an actual container you can haul and use for mining is no larger 3900 m3. Thing is that you can anchor (with certain restrictions) that smaller container so no one can steal from it but it does take more effort (and less ore).

2) sure, if you really know what you're doing and put effort into it you can, thing is that mining is just about the worst possible income (it's done half-afk with close to zero effort, thus it can't be good cash). Things like scamming and ninja salvaging are a much better start for a newbie to make isk. Both require effort, knowledge and a certain mindset though.

3) not really, it's just missions that give you standing and isk. Nothing wrong with that but this being a sandbox means things are only important to you if you want them to be. There's many ways to make isk and standing is only useful if you care about stuff like that.

The answer to number one - as you've seen - is no.

Here is what you can do though:

1) nothing to add this, see above

2) I'm not sure how much new player could get from scamming or ninja-salvaging. Disregarding those I don't think new player can get 500kk ISK during first 30 days. For older player who knows enough about EVE and has just started new character that would be possible.

3) I recommend level 1 Epic Arc for all new players for nice income and some fighting experience. You could also do normal missions but they pay less and are unpredictable (i.e. it's random whether you get easy or hard mission from agent). Epic Arc however allways gives same 50+ missions.

Once you learn how to probe a bit (exploration tutorial), learn the skill to salvage and fit a ship for salvaging (total training time 1-2 days tops) you can then move to a mission hub and make good cash. Probing takes a bit of effort to master but on average a newbie who gets the hang of it a little bit can make 10-15M/h, and a lot more if he also grabs the better loot items from the wrecks (and runs when he gets shot at).

Takes almost no SP, just effort. Effectively you're pvping of sorts almost right from the start.

Yes, that's possible in few minutes - buy PLEX, sell on market => ~500m ISK in wallet. Otherwise not very likely for a new character/ account.

Be warned however, secure cans are NOT secure in systems that have a sec status of 1.0, 0.9 and 0.8 EVEN if you anchor them and set a password. They are still accessible to anyone in local.

High Security Exploration, it's easy to make 500 mill within 30 days.

Trick is after completing the Career Agent missions (which can be completed on trial), fit up the Exploration ship gained from Career Agent, buy and train up a couple levels of the various exploration skills and scan for high sec Radar sites. Concentrate in areas where the population count is low. Look for systems that are dead end or in a pipeline leading to the deadend. Always be on the move traveling and scanning. Weekends are very tough due to a lot of online players.

Decryptors sell on average about 5 to 15 mill each, depending on the type of decryptor found and the regional market. Basically the goal would be to spend a few hours a day scanning down Radar sites, you only need to make 25 mill per game session. Within 4 days you could easily have 100 mill and after 20 days you would have the 500 mill or enough ISK to easily buy a PLEX (30 day game time).

In addition to what DeMichael said, check http://explorationalmanac.blogspot.com and you can follow how someone went from a brand new character to making enough to buy a PLEX doing exploration. It's a bit out of date but the same general principles apply

Exploration is definately the most lucrative money maker for a new player other than pulling off a glorious scam. Although its far from failsafe, 100mil in 2 hours can be followed by nothing for 2 days. High sec islands are often great for this (Erindur in metropolis was my piece of desolate farmland) .

Ninja salvage is much more reliable in terms of getting a result, but overall the money doesn't compare to radar site hunting.
Still remember finding a radar site 30 mins after finishing the career agents, netting 30 million and thinking I was up there with the richest in eve. Although again the RNG involved means a jackpot is still not totally guarenteed once you scan down a decent site.

Doing the epic arc is far from essential especialy if your already doing your own thing, its basicly just there for those who are still wondering what to do with themselves. Although its great for your standings early on.

Note that on occasions he received help from other players or brought advanced ships like a Tengu from another account.

But yes, exploration is pretty rewarding, even without external help, even in high sec if you are lucky with the sites you find.
