Out of a morbid curiosity, what "this" will end, other than maybe the lives of a few crew? Is the loser going to stop working against the other faction, stop posting on the Summit, or perhaps even start working against their own faction?

None of those seem likely.

If the options are a duel or being the target of a public grudge for months/ever I would take the duel. The commander has her own code of honour and if one respects it she tends to treat them cordially. If one does not respect it, well good luck getting her to bury the hatchet. Sometimes it's simpler to just let her have her way.

None of those seem likely.
If Diana Kim promises to stop posting forever before CONCORD then I will sacrifice my Nyx to that cause let alone a frigate.
