Graphics and Capturing the Beauty of EVE

Ever since the first release of EVE, the main motivation for progressing the game was cinematic angles and camera options. And later- the improvement of graphics, among game mechanics and content. And in the first days of getting into EVE (Quantum Rise), the graphics were absolutely Stunning- and despite running on an old NVIDIA GT 9800 +1 (1600x900), I could run a single client on the highest settings.

Those were the days when I had just started up in High School, and no matter how small- the escape from reality that EVE provided helped a ton with the stress and anxiety. 6 months to a year later, I had gotten into capturing the Beauty of EVE- and submitted those screenshots to DeviantART (a relic long past)- and got a lot more publicity than I had imagined. I found people that were into the same thing- who also took screenshots of beauty..

Then I upgraded to a Saphire HD Radeon 5770 (1600x900).

Before I knew it, Apocrypha came about. And the excitement of Wormholes and the menacing beauty that they contained- forever captured my interest. Even now- nothing quite compares to the solitude, content and Risk they provide. But keeping possession of them- let alone sticking to a corp that was right for me, eluded me for Years.

I took a looong break from EVE after the indecisiveness and hopelessness got to me- not to mention the lack of funds for 3 separate accounts. Here and there, I still came back- but most of my time was kept to the Test server (SISI), that was less immersive yet had less restriction upon ISK and Skillpoints.

In that time, I had then upgraded to an ASUS GTX 560 Ti (overclocked to the max, 1680x1050), and ran 3 accounts in tandem on max graphics. (And it was sooooo worth it), soon after that- we were teased with the Tesselation / PhysX demo, with the Revenant Supercarrier. Then there was rumor about custom player-made ship skins with 4K-8K resolution textures.

Before I knew it, I had upgraded once more- to an eVGA GTX 970 (1920x1080); which devoured any challenge that came before it. FPS wasn't an issue, regardless of games- at least at 1080p.

And despite the slowly-progressing graphic upgrades that EVE brought out- the lack of flawless textures with structures in space (mission structures, stations, gas clouds, etc), kept the immersiveness at a certain level- below what was desired.
And so I hungered for more, but stayed in the shadows- waiting for more Beauty to appear. But It had not.

Upon reading up on Tesselation- I learnt that CCP didn't integrate it (as it made a near unnoticeable difference, at the cost of 4x data-space and internet bandwidth) but kept somewhat quite about it, until someone on the forums inquired about it.

And so far, the custom player-made skins arnt in the foreseeable future- as the skins that CCP is making, makes too much money to pull away from. So It makes me wonder- what are getting instead? Are there other super-advanced graphic upgrades on the horizon? Or are we getting nothing but eventual/small V# upgrades?

Will we ever get Advanced Graphics options? (apparently editing the prefs.ini doesn't work anymore)

On another topic which coincides with this- what unconventional graphics 'upgrade' techniques do you use? (through the NVIDIA control panel or otherwise), or otherwise- what post-processing techniques do you use to 'increase the quality' of screenshots?
