Hi all,

Made my first big investment and dropped isk on a bowhead.

How do you guys utilize them, I mean I understand what they are used but rather the method of transport. Do you guys have an eye always ahead? do you undock and carry ships and go abou thigh-sec at off-hours (whatever that EvE time is). Any info that can help an industry brother who just got into the big ship. I'm assuming there are stories people trying to gank it and failed?

Any resources and tips on flying this 'specific ship' is appreciated. Thanks in advance

so you already made the big investment and purchased a Bowhead...and now you're asking how to use it.

For your second big investment, I'd like to offer my consulting services on ship use and future purchases...

I thought for sure you were going to make a double-your-ISK insurance offer.

I know how to use it. I'm curious the ways of how about other go about using. Trying to discover tactics or saftey mechanisms I may have missed. I know what's it's used for but flying such a big ship automatically makes me want to be even more safe.

This post is geared to actually users of Bowhead.

I would imagine you'd fly it very much like a Freighter.

A scout/webbing alt would be kind of crucial.

I used it once when I decided to move to a new place. Now I don't know what kind of ships you need to move but for normal type of stuff like mine (not incursion level of bling so to speak) I didn't feel particularly worried slowboating around with my 600k EHP insured freighter. You could use a +1 scout if you're really paranoid. If you see like 100 Tornadoes, time to dock up and grab a tea.

edit: forgot to say: once at desti, I sold it immediately. Lost the cost of the T1 rigs, was happy.

Nice, the exact response I was looking for! I do have some assets to move 1 home base to a new home base.

Have you flow'n it through low sec even or only high-sec? I have a new base of operations in low-sec and thinking maybe drop off all assets in high-sec 1 jump away then get a Transport T2 to move from high to low.. that may take some rounds since I think bay is limited to 75K for ship maintenance on the T2 transporters

Use a 500mn mwd.

Cycle it once to get your speed up to warp.

Turns a 40-60 second align time into a 10 second align time.

Fit it with a hull tank (capital bulkhead rigs, damage control, and bulkheads in the lows)

This is how my alt flies her Bowhead.

I hope the guy who jumps his loaded Bowhead into lowsec is not born yet.

If it's one jump, like in the very system when you jump into lowsec, not the one after, you could try but it takes scoutS, webbing alt, and possibly bookmarks. I would never do it anyway.

I moved Bowhead full of bling ships through HS and LS before. I took LS route as that avoided the known choke points and systems where you could b very confident that suicide gank squad are around & active at the time.

I had 2 falcons and a rapier for scouting & webbing, but even then I wouldn't try to push through a camp. I moved them when the local in LS I was passing through was extremely low (maybe only 1 except our scouts/webbers) and the gate was clear. That 1 guy could have been sitting & watching the gate in a cloaky with cyno fit, so there still was some risk, but we had reasonable confidence that we could push through that at the time and it seemed unlikely that guy was a cloaky cyno toon, at least based on his records.

Be very careful, especially if you decide to take the LS route. The only really secure way to do it is when there is no one in local in the system you are passing through and preferably also in the nearby systems . Otherwise there is always some risk involved.

Cheers Love! The cavalry's here!

I did it last night :)

Call me crazy everyone but I had a scout (one of my other accounts) ahead scouting and I did it right before downtime, so gank potential is slim.

I went through low sec and guess what.....

My Bowhead had 6 curses hulls and 4 Legions fitted. Almost 2b worth of ships I went 4 systems low sec deep and gave em to my pirate alt. Talk about guts :) it worked but yeah I think before and right after DT is a good time to haul through LS (if there's a need). Coulda used blockade runner perhaps but yeah, it's cool.
