Greetings o7,

EDIT: 100mil to whomever can get me logged in and playing EVE again.

I have never had an issue getting EVE to run on Linux. Use to I could just download the normal windows installer and while the launcher wouldn't show anything but a white screen (shown below img 1) I could go to settings in the top right corner (shown below img 2) and click play on play on tranquility (shown below img 3) and after download was finished (shown below img 4) I clicked "Play on Tranq" and it would give me a eve.exe file login window full screen. This is the old style login window (shown below img 5) As of 1 or 2 months ago CCP no longer allows login through this window which is bullshit for Linux users. I've been using this method for a long time and it makes running eve on Linux hella easy. You install it just like you would on windows you just don't get a launcher filled with info it's blank white with a close option and the settings option. You simply select server list and select play on w/e server you wanted to play on. it provides you with a list of 4 servers.

EVE Client
Settings Tab And Server List
Manually Select Which Server To Play On
Downloading of Patch/Content starts after modifying some other settings
This is the window you get when you bypass the launcher login. Its the old style login. eve.exe.
This is the error message when you try to login via this screen

So now that the above method no longer works I tried an offline installer method and got it working for a day a few weeks ago and it all went to sh*t after this and could no longer get it to function. Scrap heaped.

I can't get the offline installer to work either. However I went to give it a try today and I CAN'T EVEN FIND OR GET TO the offline installer. The following link is the link to the offline installer (it worked yesterday and anytime I used it in the past however many years.)

https://community.eveonline.com/support/download/offline-installer/

However as of today this link redirects/forwards to the normal download page.

SOOOOOOOO Does anyone have any bright ideas on how I can get eve online running on my laptop running Ubuntu 14.04 LTSx64?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Maybe I can play EVE again rather than just talk about it.

EDIT: I have made SOME progress I think but it is still not working

Here is the reddit post for more info

Ok so now I have the launcher working but it's not launching the client when I hit play. Here is a screenshot. this is where I am now stuck.

Have you tried the officially unofficial Snorlaxian Eve launcher yet? Works like a charm for me, and doesn't require you to do any wonky stuff. Just launch it, let it download the game and start playing.

Yeah Neuntausend I have no idea how to implement that and it does not give any info on how to. Thanks for the reply though. Any one else got any ideas or care to give me a quick and dirty guide on how to do it? I'll pay 100 mil to whoever can get me logged in

What do you mean by "implement"? In most cases you don't need to do much at all. Download it, unpack it into a folder of your choice, then navigate to that folder and start evelauncher.sh. If you want to do it in a terminal, either type

./evelauncher.sh

(mind the dot)

or

sh evelauncher.sh

I'm talking about what files do I download. The regular file for windows, the offline installer, a special file, etc?

Once donwloaded is there anything special I need to do to install it? Each time open the installer I get erros and the client stays white screen.

I just uninstaled the EVE and i'm going to try again. I've seen the file evelauncher.sh but I''ve not clicked it. I just clicked the launcher that's on my desktop with the icon on it. Is there a special file in linux I should be using instead. I've just never had this problem till now. and I DO NOT understand Linux unenough to troubleshoot this. Why I am offering 100mil to someone to tell me how to do it.

Seems like he's saying the launcer is doing this for you mate.

I ran eve with wine last xmas - worked fine untill it didn't but that was the gpu not playing nice (dying) and intel graphics on that machine being shoite. https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=25823

Get on Comms, or die typing.

If I can get this to work and its looking hopeful I too have intel graphics. And AMD/ATI I have dual GPU. ****** ones at that. Old Lenova Thinkpad.

And my issue was i had no idea what files to download but I think I have it now. We'll see.

Since the resource cache update, I'm afraid there is no installer of sorts anymore. The launcher dynamically handles which client files you have on your machine and where. So you need to get the launcher to work properly one way or another.

I cannot help you with running the native windows version of the launcher, because I haven't tried that in a while. There's really no reason to use wine and the windows launcher either, because Snorlax is doing a good job with the native linux launcher.

Just in case, what I was suggesting was to download this file from this thread. It's a .tar.gz file you can unpack using any archive management software such as ark or file roller.

Once unpacked, you will find a file called "evelauncher.sh" among the unpacked files. The only thing you need to do really is start that. It will handle the rest - download wine, download the game and launch it, so you don't have to do anything.

Should it still not work against all the odds, please tell us what you actually did, and what the result was, including any error messages or command line output it produced, otherwise we will not be able to help you figure something out.
