Tengu - HAM vs HM Question

So a long time ago, HAMGU was pretty solid. Then, while I wasn't playing i heard the HAM's got some nerf ( I dunno maybe i'm wrong, ******** or more likely both).

So I guess my question is for Null Sec Ratting and possible, Maze runs, i'm wondering if HAM's are still valid for such a Tengu in Null or if Heavy Missiles are better suited.

I'm equally skilled for both.

Just been out of the loop for a bit and not sure what's ideal these days.

I do know however that Prostitutes belong in the hull with a Janitor for clean up, but not much more than that these days.

That is all.

Both work very good against the maze. To me it's just preference, I like the heavy missiles better than the HAMs due to the extra range and you don't have to be too close to the station.

Either or works just fine so up to you of which you want to do.

I don't think HAMs have changed for ages. HM on the other hand got a good nerf a few years back and don't really apply DPs in PVP (PVE they are OK since K space NPCs are slow and fat anyway)

Thanks ..

is it still...

HAM = Closer more DPS...
HM = Lower DPS, more range

Thanks for everyone that doesn't call me an idiot in the forums.

Hi

HAM will give a considerable higher amount of DPS at the expense of range. With faction BCS and some implants u can have 1000+ DPS HAMGU. I think it has a better damage application to smaller stuff too. And you can always change to Javlin ammo if a few targets are at range. So if you want to kill lots of smaller stuff and they are at close range you should go for HAM. For ratting, well it depends on ur strategy. If you have the liberty of cheery-picking rock havens go for HAM cuz rats would be pretty close to you. If ur strategy is kitting at range (particularly important in high-end plexing like drone 10/10s) HMs are better.

no clue about the maze, but for ratting I'd be very tempted to go with HAMs for the extra dps. Standard rats can't really do crap to a tengu so maxing dps makes sense.

also worthwhile to consider getting a tengu for when you do get an escalation, and keep a separate ratting ship for higher bounty ticks for every day operations.

yeah it's all Gurista Havens and the like,

Now I dont' think i can cherry pick but ceritnaly running a Havent and Forsaken Hubs isn't a problem in the system im in.

Thanks for the follow ups I appreciate it.
