I don't know if the notable regions are npc or player owned, but would that be any indicator of where to sell and buy as in buying in lonetrek because they got stuff to sell?

As no-one else has replied I'll take a stab at this one.

The biggest problem in answering your question is that CCP have never (to my knowledge) said much about what the figures mean Apart from the heading on the different graphics, they sort of throw the information out there for people to look at and maybe analyse.

Regarding the m3 there is a large imbalance in Lonetrek, this means the region is a net exporter, but we don't know what the individual items are.

To get any insight into what the different graphs mean you'll have to look at the different graphs and their underlying data and see how they relate to each other. E.g. for the regions you have an isk figure for imports/exports and also a m3. If you were to create an index that related those together and then looked at that for all regions, over time, you get some insight. E.g. if the isk per volume is higher or lower in different regions might reflect the underlying nature of the (averaged) commodities. Moon gold and minerals would have a different ratio to bulky low value goods.

Most of the regions around the Forge are net exporters because people buy in Jita and ship out to elsewhere so you would expect to see high values for goods in transit through Citadel and the Forge.

Just because Lonetrek has a high deficit of m3 transported through the region doesn't really tell you much beyond itself.

I doubt you'll get much of a response to this thread as valuable insights into the monthly data that would give an economic advantage are going to be hard won so it's not really something that people will just casually discuss on the forums (in my opinion).

No harm in asking though. But back to your original question about buying in Lonetrek. I think it would be better to ask yourself what items you have market knowledge of and whether you can actually get buy orders filled in Lonetrek. Market history table will give you some strong indications of that. But those volume figures don't give any indication whether it's a good region to put up buy orders.

I'm not sure what to make of this, not that I'm geography aware.

You are right, of course. It is a non sequitur. I'm not sure what I was thinking there, apart from that you expect to see high transit volumes in those regions.
