Title says it all. The Orca should be able to use 1 Excavator drone in order to make it competitive against the Exhumers that can use a strip miner and drones

Comparing 5x Harvester Drones to 1x Excavator Drone.

5x Harvester Drones
210 m3 / 60 sec = 3.5 m3 / sec

1x Excavator Drone
1000 m3 / 225 sec = 4.4 m3 / sec

This may not seem like much but the larger base figures of the Excavator drones means boosts will have a greater effect on the mining yield.

In order for this to happen, there needs to be some changes to the Orca, Rorqual and Excavator Drone.

Orca
Increase the drone bay to 900 m3

Excavator Drone
Increase the bandwidth of the Excavator drone from 25 to 50MB

Rorqual
Add a bonus to the Capital Industrial Ship Bonuses
10% reduction per level in the bandwidth requirement of Excavator Drones.

Level
Level 0 - 50 MB Bandwidth - Can use 2 Excavator Drones
Level 1 - 45 MB Bandwidth - Can use 2 Excavator Drones
Level 2 - 40 MB Bandwidth - Can use 3 Excavator Drones
Level 3 - 35 MB Bandwidth - Can use 3 Excavator Drones
Level 4 - 30 MB Bandwidth - Can use 4 Excavator Drones
Level 5 - 25 MB Bnadwidth - Can use 5 Excavator Drones

orca does not need to be competitive with exumers as the orca should not be competing with them. the orca should be boosting and supplementing yields not finding itself as a dedicated miner.

and you do know boosts do not affect the drones right?

Think about the progress of mining ships.
Venture -> Mining Barge -> Exhumer
Your mining yield rises at a well balanced rate.

Now think about the mining yield of the command ships.
Porpoise -> Orca -> Rorqual
The yield as you progress through the ships is horrible then suddenly sky-rockets. Not balanced at all.

If you think drones get boosts, you're not competent enough to offer any opinion on mining balance.

porpoise -> orca is just fine and then orca to roqual you are going from a subcap to a capital so works here too look at cruiser ->BB->dread DPS progression you will see the same spike

not to mention mining is a secondary aspect of these ships so there does not even need to be clear progression with it

That's because you're thinking about this wrong. The Rorqual isn't just the culmination of the boosting line, it's also the culmination of the mining line as well, but only with the siege module active which is extremely high risk.

Without the siege module a Rorqual mines only slightly more than a boosted Hulk, and that's before taking the travel time of the drones into account.

Yes, I am referring to the Industrial Core I or II. It has a siege mode, hence calling it a siege module.

Regardless my point here stands.

I meant the bonuses to mining yield the Orca has.
