Lets be honest longer fights are more fun.

Some of the most boring fights I have ever been in were long, others were extremely short. Length of the battle in time is not what makes a fight fun, what happens during that time is what makes a fight fun.

Every player in EvE participates in some form of PvP. You simply cannot escape it if you do anything in the game beyond ship spin and use chat rooms. You may not participate in ship to ship combat with other players, but you participate in PvP.

Stop deluding yourself, realize this is a fact.

I do not disagree with you on this but we need to adjust the terms used to better represent what is actually happening in the game.
To put market trading etc into the same discussion category as actual PvP(shoot each other) simply does not work well and it often confuses players and issues / ideas.

That's just it. If you separate them, you end up with a portion of the player base that thinks one is acceptable while the other is not, whist in EvE, all are equally acceptable.

The confusion comes when you conclude that one form of PvP is more or less acceptable than another.

meh, short battles nothing happens other than something getting vaporized. Shorter battles allow more micro management and dynamics. Too much PvP is centered on hotdropping as many ships as possible on a single or small group of enemies. Do you think getting hotdropped by 10b isk worth of ships is fun for the 500m of ships? All you are is food at that point. That's not fun. You cant even fight back. A longer fight would at least let you activate some modules before being vapor...

To say that the markets of EvE are the same as the blow each other up aspects of the game is ridiculous, that is like saying that wall street traders are the same as combat troops in the fields of battle during WW II, markets and trading have always been and always will be radically different.

I never stated that one was more or less important, you did. All I stated was that for clarity in discussions and to help eliminate confusions we need to develop and use different terms so we can accurately communicate which form of PvP we are talking about.

PvP is the umbrella term. Mining, market trading, shooting other ships...all PvP. All are players competing against other players.

Running, swimming, weight lifting, walking, yoga, are all forms of exercise. Exercise is the umbrella term.

Really, what is the problem here.
