Yeah, calling people 'fanboy', the easy way to both avoid and dismiss legitimate criticism of your ideas. Too bad it's completely irrelevant and achieves neither.

Annette, I have plenty of criticisms of the game, to name just a few, the static universe, the ease with which PVP can be avoided in all space, and last but definitely not least, that fact that people can log in for free at all. But please, tell me how much of a fanboy I am, as if that somehow reduces how much of a spoiled brat you are.

I tried to explain EvE to people at work, and they always ask...so what happens when your ship blows up.

nope...if you are fast you will get away other wise they are likely to blow you up as well.

If you are smart you insured it so you can buy another one...hopefully.

well you don't loose the ability to fly that type of ship, and maybe you can get some of your wreck back but don't count on it

The OP is right;
EVE have a toxic community -
thats why there is one of the golden rules which says:

"Never trust anyone" -

EVE is not free to play - it's even worse than WoW trial account;
I advanced to Omega only bcs I had a plex stored in my assets - in other way i would never decide to do such a move;

I already found:
- some douchbags;
- some bulls$it in game mechanis;
- hillarious Plex price;
- lowered payout as beying a carebear;

Tbh i have to spend 10 days to earn enough ISKies for a plex with my Omega account -
but then i lost like 200 KK assets during the burners and being 1 shooted by minmatar police in, a ship tinny as $hit;

The TS is absolutely right, alpha clones dont reflect f2p game scheme but merely unlimited trial. To be fair, CCP never sold their alpha clones as F2P, its mostly players who hyped eve being F2P now.

What has CCP said?

I hear and read different things all from the same CCP. One moment I read that Alpha is a free trail without a time limit. And then I watch like a CCP live stream where they are calling Alpha's the new free to play format. I don't think they really know yet what alpha is supposed to be.

Anywho... I am waiting for the cheapo sub Beta clone that lets me use all my current trained skills, but with added limits like no cyno and no skilltraining.

You'll be waiting a while. I have no idea why such a thing would be needed. A full sub is only $15 a month, or 50c a day. There's no price niche to fill. If you can't spare $15 a month for entertainment, you've got bigger problems than what you aren't getting for free.

It's not about if I can afford it or not, it's about if I think it is worth 15€ a month... or worth the plex grind. EvE is not the only game we can play you know. If you only play EvE every day then sure it is worth it, but I (and no doubt many others) also like to play and buy other games... which makes EVE with 15€ a month for a few hours of pew pew not worth it to sub... and Alpha clone is useless for old players with a filled hangar of nice ships you can't fly with. So hence a cheapo Beta clone that does not play like a trail account. The question is, does CCP wants to make 7€ every month from me or do they want to make 15€ from me 2 months a year?
