Number of Citadels getting blown in C3 wormhole systems?

To the people talking about loot piñatas, I understand there's no asset safety in WHs, but wouldn't someone just load everything into an Orca after their citadel is attacked if they knew they couldn't defend it?

That Assumes that the WH is not guarded 24/7 and bubbled. in a POS you would just load the stuff in an Orca , sit in the Orca and log out. Just don't log back in for a week and you are fine.

But yes as long as that's not the case its pretty easy to get stuff out.

You cannot access stuff belonging to other people, only your own and from corp hangars assuming you have the rights to do so. Depending on your corp organization and size, you most certainly have people on vacation, that just quit, that only log on every other week and so on, that will not manage to evacuate everything or at all.
Also, the space inside an Orca is quite limited compared to what people store in ther WH citadels and I doubt that many even have an emergeny evac plan.

You set up a POS where they logged out with guns, webs and then bubble the crap out of it. If you never put a password on it, the POS shield never forms, so when they log the orca in, they don't bounce off the shield. Now they are trapped right next to a hostile POS tower in the middle of 10 bubbles and the orca dies.

One of the best things to see is to check killboards after you leave the WH you are attacking for those type of kills.

What would be a good approach/ships to defend an anchored citadel if only a couple of players are available against a small gang of attackers?

Long range ECM? Logistics to repair the citadel faster than they can damage it? Long range DPS?

Yes i am aware, but the thing is that there are more options for a POS. At least you can get 1 Orca load out (Blue loot, salvage, bling mods and that pile of C320) barring people setting up disk stars on you old POS (they only get the loot if they scope in in 2 hours and they have to pay for fuel)

The issue you described above are worse in a Citadel. With unlimited Personal space people are less likely to store stuff in shared hangers, and hanger rights are still there.

That being said i love Citadels, just pointing out the facts.

I was referring to Citadels. With a Pos, you would only have these problems if you put up personal hangars - something I wouldn't do.

Greetings.

I've been seeing lots of Astrahus kills in C3 wormholes lately (and to some extent C2s as well). Many of those kills are work of 8-10~ capsuleer fleets, and judging by the attackers' killboards, it doesn't looks like evictions, just random kills.

My questions are: are medium Citadels that easy to take down, even in low class WHs? And how can a small/micro corp defend itself/avoid that in the current meta we're in.

Also, I fully understand that once a larger, more organized group decides to evict or simply destroy a micro corp's Citadel (1-5 players), they'll pretty much do it. Period. Thing is, tho, that I've been reading about smaller entities setting up shop in wormholes and people use to say that those small guys in semi-useless holes "usually are not worth the time and effort" required to be destroyed and left alone by possible attackers.

Why do the killboards say otherwise? Are these dead Citadels mostly from careless guys (who won't eve roll the WHs for safety's sake, for example) or is it just that easy to take them down?

Thanks o7

Most of the kills i saw browsing the killboard were in first vuln window. Id say maybe 75% were in that window for the astrahus. Most of the kills of fitted astrahuses seem to be in higher class WHs.

Honestly your best defense is hole control before the fact.
Before you anchor you should roll all the holes and know when they reopen. Anchor, then if you are a small group either agree on times where you log in, roll all the holes again and log out. The most important time frame is about 3-4 hours before the citadel comes out of anchor. You should be rolling the holes every hour and post scouts on your static after you roll them, so you can hear if some one jumps out to get a connection.

Worst case if someone drops in you can either try to fight with a small micro gang (Cerb + Scimi) (Deacon + Confessor) or something that your group is familiar with. Another idea, honestly let them kill it. An unfit Astrahus is currently 1.2 bill, so depending on what your up against it might just be better to minimize your losses.

The last key to a successful anchor is a fresh blood sacrifice to Bob, anything will do really, mining ships, a 1v1 at the sun or you can be creative as long as someone dies. Once that is done make sure you place the corpse at the sun and everything should work in your favor.
