Core Scanner Probe I

I look on the description tab and it says "A scanner probe used for scanning down Cosmic Signatures in space."

Cosmic Signatures is a link that opens a website called EVElopedia. EVElopedia instead of explaining what Cosmic Signatures's are it says it's been shut down for 9 months. Why is it still a link on the item at all or not been modified to link to a different valid website?

Evelopedia was run by CCP. Now you only see it when you try to open an ingame item link from an out-of-game place (like when reading your ingame mails outside of Eve) if you click on the same link ingame you will get the correct info.

Nope wrong, I clicked on the link on the item in game and it opened it in google chrome out of game. Mouse over the orange link in the items description in game and you see http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Cosmic_Signatures in a tooltip.

Kinda surprised it didn't open in the in game web browser like it used to open websites.

No. The in-game links connect to the page described by the OP.

To OP: Evelopedia was hosted by CCP but maintained by players and contained a massive amount of useful information, although some of it was out of date. When CCP decided to stop hosting it, rather than completely deleting the in-game links they substituted what they hoped were a few useful substitutes.

1. Press the big ? on the toolbar on the left side in-game and create a bug report, where you can describe the situation and include a screenshot, so that CCP can fix the description of that item to not have an incorrect link.

2. If you have unanswered questions about probing:
a. Press F12 in-game, switch to the Tutorial Videos tab, and watch the Exploration/Scanning videos made by CCP.
b. Read this excellent guide and the EVE University guide on the subject.

Otherwise, the in-game browser has been removed by CCP prior to the Alpha expansion. The Evelopedia has been removed by CCP a few months before that, but they haven't bothered to do a thorough job and fix all the existing links everywhere.

They may not even remember where all the links are making a bug report even more important.
