Just ran into this on TQ, and man, this is sad.

What have you done to Aura. I logged into TQ and got that half baked English accent. I liked the refined dignified voice of the old Aura, this new one sounds like someone is trying to do an English accent and failing.

The original Aura resonated with the entire look and feel of Eve Online; her voice evoked a cold machine world attempting to entice you out into the stars.... It was mechanically seductive. It was Aura's striking voice that first grabbed me when I initially logged in 10 years ago, I'm devastated that you replaced her with this amatuer voice that quips, sounding like someone in middle school spent 3 minutes playing with a sound editor on their new Mac to make something "cool". The new voice is unprofessional in the mismatch between what Eve is visually and what this voice presents audibly.

Setting the precedent for my observation: I've worked as an audio engineer, been on-air with two radio stations, held down residencies at nightclubs, and played keyboards in several bands. So when I say this is a huge audio downgrade, I'm not speaking out of my arse: this is a huge audio downgrade.

Was for many of us. I put some of the Aura voice files in my signature. Enjoy!

i have to admit i can't tell what she's saying half the time.

the voice itself doesn't bother me, but the original was more clear. whoever the voice actor is doesn't enunciate well.

it would be funtastic if we could:

1. have the original back, as an option, disabled by default in settings
-and/or-
2. have the ability to add our own VO files (wav, ogg, mp3, whatever is easiest/cheapest for CPP)-- we can find/create our own sound files, easy.

i really like option two because it would allow the vast majority of PAYING, LONG-TERM players to customize their ship AI -- you could even restrict the feature to Omega clones as incentive (and bottom-line justification to Stakeholders) -- the old Aura had a cold, mechanical feel to her and it really did help define the mood and set the stage for the EvE Universe whether CCP Producers realize it or not. the new voice does not sound like an AI. instead:

the new Aura sounds like you picked a mid-twenty-something up at a pub and paid her to do VOs based on her fashion sense rather than her ability to speak english properly.

did I mention my wife and I now make fun of Aura? almost every time we warp or dock.. so like, all the time.

all. the. time.

it's almost as bad as *cough* text-to-speech -- but at least that felt more like an AI than a pub thot.

The former Aura voice had a more mysterious sound to it which lent itself well to the game climate. It was far more appealing to me than the new voice.
