EVE General Discussion

After an extended time away from Eve, I logged in yesterday and went to visit my former alliances recruitment channel. The words I then saw printed in front of me on the motd shocked me.

RIP Targamarr.

The leader of The Methodical Alliance, probably the most generous and caring person I have ever dealt with was gone. My friend of just over 5 years, the man who took me in and made null interesting is dead.

Sudden death by itself is shocking enough. But this death is made even more so, because it turns out he took his own life. A man who never had a bad word to say against anybody, a man who was always positive no matter the struggles we faced, IRL and in game, even throughout his own personal issues which those of us who knew him well we're aware of. This however he hid so well that those who spoke to him almost daily didn't suspect anything was off.

Targamarr believed that there was still the ability to be the good guy in Eve. The white hat if you will. His view, while I am sure is not unique, was unique in my experience in this universe. I have played the game since launch and never came across a person like him, and doubt I ever will again. Hopefully his ideals for TMA will continue on and finally prosper in the Alliance which he loved so much.

Society as a whole is cruel, the people who are above that and stand out in a positive way are also the people who have trouble dealing and coping with society. Some people care so much it becomes a burden.
