I was jumping through Kassigainen on auto pilot towards Jita to get a Large cap charger 2 for my Hyperion on 2106/11/26 18:23 when I was attacked and killed.

I checked the system and your corporation on zkillboard.

Your name is not listed anywhere.

There are only a few ways to explain this:

- you may have been killed by NPCs, not players. NPCs do not produce killmails.
Were any of the people who killed have the terms "Seeker" or "Drifter" or "Tyranis" by any chance?

- neither your, nor your attacker, or your corporation, or your attacker's corporation has an killmail API set up. While this is a possibility, the odds of this being the case are rare (as hunter-killers like their killboards).

- you were on a different character

- there is some kind of extreme time delay going on here. Perhaps a screenshot of the kill may be faster? Double click the kill on your character sheet, save the picture, and post it on Imgur.

zkillboard is only showing 3 ships and 3 pod kills in Kassigainen today, and nothing for a few days prior. Is it possible that the OP was somehow KOS to Caldari due to not being selective with missions?

That's another possibility.

I see you're part of a player owned corp, did/do your corp have any wardecs on them? This would change the mechanics of when & where you can be attacked completely, without CONCORD interference. It sounds suspiciously like you were simply an easy target for lazy pirates who like to camp the trade hubs and wardec as many corps as they can.

I was not doing any mission - I was just going to get a part for my ship and was on auto pilot so I did not attack anyone. I tried to get away as soon as I was shot but was webified.

Okay... what is your standing with the Caldari?

I am thinking it is more than likely that the OP ran afoul of the NPCs.

OP. open your character sheet alt-a. Interactons/standings. Disliked by and tell us what your modified Caldari State standing is. If it is -5 or lower you are KOS to Caldari State.

Interactions/Combat Log/ change drop-down to Show losses. double click on your ship. Under involved parties, it will tell you exactly who killed you.

I was under the misconception that if you played hundreds of hours to get and fit a better ship and train skills you could then join a fleet and fight as a team (as in world of tanks).

That is definitely a misconception.

In Eve it's about what you know not how many skill points you have or how blingy your ship is.

But what is even better than knowledge in this game is friends. If you want to join a fleet and fight you can do that on day one. Oh and ten years down the road when you have a couple hunder Million skill points you can still jump in that same T1 frigate and join a fleet and fight.

If you think that bigger is better or that you can buy your way to glory in this game then you have things all backwards. I tried to look you up on the KBs to see the kill but you don't show up so I am just going to have to take a guess that you purchased some expensive mods to fit your Hyperion that you probably had neither the personal nor character skills to fly.

Stay small, fly cheap and learn the game. Eve is not a game about gear progression. There is no character level nor end game in Eve. Bigger is not better. The general theme with Eve is doing more with less.

The above link is an experienced vet on a days old alt flying very cheaply fit frigates and doing very well for himself. That is what Eve is.

If you are rushing into a battleship before you have the support skills to fly it properly and breaking the cardnial rule of Eve which is "DON'T FLY WHAT YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOOSE" then you only have yourself to blame not this game.

There is no "best ship."

I typically agree with Uncle ShahFluffers but on this one I have to take exception.

Everyone knows that friendship is the best ship in Eve. It sounds corny but it's true. If you are trying to solo the game then you are missing at least 90% of the content.

Just posting for relevancy towards the #1 golden rule and the "bigger is not better" part of the 8 golden rules.

I have to apologize to the members of this game as it indeed was the Caldari Navy fleet admiral that killed me.
My standing with the Caldari is - 7.01.
This is a steep learning curve to this game and unfortunately it has proven to be too much for me at this time.

There are a few social skills you can train that will clear that standings issue right up.

EDIT: Train Diplomacy. It's a x1 skill and trains fast. Just train that and get back out there and have fun.

It happens to everyone. Just remember that we are here to to help you. Next time you feel like giving Eve a try, check out the stickys in this subforum, and of course never hesitate to ask questions. Believe it or not, once you get over the learning curve, it flattens out a lot, but that depth of play is what keeps the replay value so high.

Some social skills, and the SOE epic arc together should be enough to get you over -5. The soe arc does take a couple days to do though. In the meantime, you can shop in Dodoxie instead of Jita.

Not from -7.
That's going to require some work.

Op in future you should avoid missions against any of the four Empires.

I will echo this.

Check out this thread: "How did you Veterans start?"

It is a collection of stories from players on how they started and advanced through the game.
You will find that pretty much every person in EVE has suffered from some kind of derpy death that was fully preventable.

Consider it a badge of honor. A... "hazing ritual," if you will.

Also... in the future, if you decide to stay with the game, ask questions first before raging. We are all more than happy to answer questions and troubleshoot situations if you allow us to. Blink

Diplomacy trained to 4 wouldn't bring it up past -5? That's all he really needs to be at. This character is in the same situation. Diplomacy is the only thing that keeps both Caldari and Amarr from shooting at him.

Repairing the faction standings is a long and painful process - I've been there twice...OP, the easiest way is to learn Diplomacy skill, you just need to get above -5 so the navy won't shoot you anymore.
