FC protection

Hello.

The idea is some kind of module/booster that protects the FC from getting headshot. The protection is simply by changing the character's name in the overview for X time (if booster) or for as long as the module is active.

I've been in so many fleets where the FC's name is already known to the enemy, and they just remove him/her as first priority, kind of ruining a good amount of everyone's fun. I see FCs in popular twitch streams using cloaking devices and other methods of trying to live the first alpha of any engagements because everyone knows their name already.

For intended purposes it doesn't matter if the name change is random or chosen, as long as it changes.

I know it's a strange idea of sorts, but I know it would have great value for many FCs who would gladly sacrifice high/mid/low slot for this kind of mod without thinking twice, and for all the fleet members that get get their FC headshotted and podded back 20j.

Thanks for reading.

As I pointed out in the last discussion a couple months back;

- if your entire fleet is so reliant on a single person to make things happen that the death of said person results in the fleet falling apart... that is a problem with the organizational structure and culture of the fleet. Not the game.

- "headshotting" the Fleet Commander can be a good thing. It means...
-------- there is a target that smaller, more surgical gangs, can take out to achieve victory.
-------- there is a "penalty" / "risk" associated with consolidating leadership to just a few people (or merely one).

FCs should take page out of the books of "small gangs" and delegate tasks to others so that there some kind of fallback / redundancy.

One person to lead people where they need to go and get the fleet in position.
A different person to call targets once on the field (with backup target callers if the first one is nuked).
Other people to probe, scout, and do all the ancillary things needed to ensure safety and/or victory.
And one other person who can lead everyone out when things go sideways.

Frankly... I find the whole hyper-consolidation of leadership (supported by an army of alt characters) to be one the biggest issues with the game.
Things like this that penalize such efforts are more than welcome in my book.

Taking over for an FC because the main guy just got zapped can be some of the most fun gameplay in the entire game. I have no desire all to watch an FC command from a sphere of invulnerability.
