That's worse than wifi.

Most Wireless carriers either have hard bandwidth caps, or throttle your connection once you go over their soft cap. Even the ones that say "unlimited." The disconnect every hour problem sounds like a soft-cap made to discourage constant connections, which is also relatively common with Wireless carriers. They probably have in their service agreement that their service is only meant for browsing and email, and streaming or gaming services are not covered and can result in a stop service. With a Wireless carrier, the signal is also a lot more susceptible to interference since the distance between your computer and a cell tower is significantly greater than the usual distance between a computer and a wifi router.

If you want to game online you really need a wired connection. Either a cable modem or ISDN. Wifi is actually fine if that is all you can do, just expect to lose a connection whenever a helicopter or plane altimeter hits your router.

If you insist on using your wireless carrier, then you will need to take specific actions to mitigate the soft caps.

1. Only play on the wireless. Never update, or do any downloads, or stream movies on the wireless. Only update or download new programs at a McDonalds or somewhere with public wifi. This will prevent the softcaps from activating.
2. Play with a 50 minute alarm. When the alarm goes off, you will need to find a safe logoff spot.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.
