Hi!

I'm new to EVE online and I find this game amazing because of it's complexity.
As a new player I still have many questions.

First about my ship

1. During combat, is there an easier way to lock target than right clicking on them? Sometimes they move so fast that I miss them many times when I try to click on them.

2. Insurance is the best thing, right? It seems to be a good deal. Do you recommend using it?

3. I bought some combat drones ( Warrrior I) and then the skillbook for it. I injected the skillbook. But when I go to the skills "can train now" i dont see anything about drones. when I try to use the drones they say i have to train something ad put it to training queue. when i click on "put it to queue" it says i can't do it. Any idea how can I use the drones?

About corporations

1. I recently joined a corporation, and found out that there are players from other races in it. How is this possible? I tought the different races are in war with each other.

2. My corporation is in war with some other alliance. they warned me that now I'm not safe in the high ssec systems, and should move to their "base". This means there is a station which is owned by my corp? Is there a way to move my assets there? or I have to carry everithyng myself? this could mean 2 or 3 runs.

3. I was told that during war travelling can be dangerous. How can someone attack me while I'm travelling? can they stop me while i'm warping? Or they will camp at the gates?

And some other stuff.

1.How to find good mining locations? so far I only find one place, where I only found Veldspar. If i warp to asteroid belts, I find nothing there.

2. How can I communicate with a pilot who is flykng next to me? Can I send a direct messages?

Thank you for your answers, and sorry for the long post and dumb questions.

A detailed reply to each of those questions would take a while so I'll try and give a brief answer and if that isn't helpful you can post a follow up question for more clarification.

1. Control + click the item on the overview to target

2. For ships that you expect to lose or think you have a good chance of losing yes, the payout is usually more than the cost of the insurance.

3. Assuming you are an alpha and your race is Caldari, the dev blog Introducing Alpha Clone States says you can train:
Caldari Drones 3
Caldari Light Drone Operation 1
so you should be able to use warrior 1. Show Info on the drone by right clicking it. Look for the tab that says Requirements and it will tell you what skills and also give you the total time to train to use them

Corporations

1. There are no restrictions on races and bloodlines being able to join a corporation

2. a. It could mean they have a citadel or other "space house" or it could mean they frequent a particular solar system or more, you would have to ask them
2. b. Moving stuff yourself while under a war dec as a new bro is not advisable, ask your corp if they have alt haulers, or ask about using public courier contracts

3. a. Yes, during a war the enemy corporation(s) can freely attack you anywhere
3. b. Outside of null sec they can't interrupt a warp but can tackle you on gates or stations, anywhere that you are not "in warp"
3. c. Yes they may camp gates. Most likely they will be in or around trade hubs or camping popular travel "pipes" but it depends on the attackers, some are hunters, others may be more about camping

Other

1. During a war, don't mine unless you really understand how things work. Apart from that, ask your corp where as they may have an ore buyback program
1. b. Sometimes belts get mined out especially in busy systems close to trade hubs and popular solar systems or rookie systems

2. Private conversation, alternatively, if you are in a fleet you will have a fleet chat window

Most of the above could be expanded and there are probably caveats and gotchas that I haven't mentioned but it's a start

Edit : corrected a couple of typos

1. Use your overview. You can interact with the target as listed in the overview in many ways that don't require you clicking on a target zipping around your screen. You can right-click and select target, click on it and use the window above it, or even Ctrl-click on a target.

2. Yes. If you think you will lose your ship in the time period the insurance is active, you should always by the platinum insurance. When you are starting out, or deliberately taking a ship into dangerous area, that should be all the time.

3. This I am less sure of. You probably need to train a pre-requisite before "Light Scout Drones". Click on the info of the skill it won't let you train and it will tell you specifically what skills you need to train before you can train that skill.

1. The Empires are at war with one another. We are independent capsuleers (that do come from one of the Empires) so we can do what we want. Typically, we form corporations and alliances with other independent capsuleers and have the freedom to do what we want. We can join or fight other player groups, or we can ally with one of the NPC Empires in say faction warfare. There is no game limitation on who you choose to side with based upon your starting race.

2. You can use 'courier contracts' to pay another player to move your stuff (who also maybe able to pilot a larger cargo ship). You can also use another slot on your account to make a neutral hauler who is not in your corporation and thus is not at war and contact them your stuff. Finally, your corporation should have some way to move stuff from trade hubs to their base. Ask them directly for help.

3. You are only vulnerable on gates and on stations (docking/undocking). Use fast ships and make instant dock and undock bookmarks to help. Perhaps this link will help with ideas to keep safe: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Wartime_Operations_in_EVE_University

1. If there is nothing in an asteroid belt, it has been mined out. This happens usually in starter systems, but most other systems in New Eden have plenty of asteroid belts with plenty of ore. Just move a system or two over and you find belts full of ore. Lower security status systems have better ore, but you are at a bigger risk to other players shooting you. You can also look in your scanner for anomalies that randomly appear in systems and sometimes have slightly better ore.

2. You can open a conversation with them by right clicking on them an 'Start Private Conversation' (or whatever it says). You can also do this by right-clicking on their name in the overview, or from their name in the local chat window. You can also just type in local chat and everyone in that system will see what you are typing.

Good luck!

Welcome to Eve.

1. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Targeting
2. Insurance is recommended for T1 ships you expect to lose within the next 90 days. It is based on build cost so doesn't work well for faction or pirate ships where a lot of the value is in the blueprint. Insurance contracts need to be renewed every 90 days so for PVE or other highsec use where probability of being killed is low you may be better off self insuring.
3. You need the drone skill and the light drone operation skill to use a warrior. http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Drones

1. Independent capsuleers don't get involved in Empire politics unless they choose to participate in faction warfare. Otherwise, nobody cares where you were "born" - that may change, the Alpha clones are locked to their racial ships and weapons. We'll need to wait and see where CCP intends to take this.
2. Most good corporations will move your stuff for you using a freighter or jump freighter. They should be able to do this even during a war since the freighter pilots should be in NPC corporations. Base is a station where the corporation has offices. In Nullsec most stations are player owned and with Citadels it is becoming more common in Empire space.
3. During a war you can be killed by your opponents without any consequences to them so caution is advised. Wars generally last a week - you can drop corp which will return you to your NPC corp if you want to mine or PVE during a war. Discuss this with your CEO - the alliance I was in as a new player maintained an out of alliance corp people could join during a war and play tax free.

1 The general tab in your overview will not show asteroids but there should also be a mining tab you can select when you warp to an asteroid belt. There is an art to setting up your overview: http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Overview_Guide
If you are close to a major trade hub (i.e. Jita) the belts may be mined out - the farther away you are from a hub and the lower security the space, the better the mining will be but that comes with risk. Your corpmates will be the best source for information on this.
2. You can form a fleet which will have a dedicated chat, or start a private conversation. Both options are available by right clicking the other character.

Good luck
