[SOLVED] confusing gas quest

First off, thank you for the new tutorial, after a few years of jumping in and out of the game, that helped a lot. I was able to get comfortable with it - woot!
OK
So I chose exploration.
I am not at home, so will have to do this by memeory, but the final quest 5/5, is about getting a proof of discovery from the gas anomaly.
I have had nothing but issues with it, and the videos are not helping. couple problems I have,
I probe and get a warp signal
I get there, and it is still at 100% but no cloud
I cannot use the jump gate because it says I need a proof of discovery (which is weird because that is what I am there for).

Can someone explain what I am messing up on? Thanks. Hate to let my ADD kick in now, just when Im starting to like the game LOL

cheers!

The key is in the station cargohold. The missions description is confusing for 5/5. You need to proof of discovery key in your ship's hold to activate the gate.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

thank you for the super fast response, so i need to fly back to base, and move it to the ship?

Yup. Then fly back to the acceleration gate and try again.

I hope you can see this image.
apparently I have some type of key, and the proof of discovery is already in my ship. So I am really lost now :P

Hmm, I've just completed this mission, you went through the acceleration gate right and looted the container?
I ask this because you need the passkey to use the acceleration gate and when I finished the mission I still had it in my cargo hold.

you see where it says "granted items"? down there it shows a blueish circle object with the text " 1 X Proof of Discovery: Gas Passkey". It looks like that blue thing is what you need to activate the gate. The piece of paper looking object is what you get inside the mission space to complete the mission.

Yes the passkey is put in your inventory and not your cargo hold, as I discovered and had to go back for it :D

hi angel,
No, I was only able to find the gas clouds, but when i got to the container, I could not loot it, something about not having the correct equipment - but according to the quest, I just need to get the proof.
I did not have to pass through any gate at that point.

from then, I was able to find more gas clouds, but never found a container again. evertime I got to the location in quesiton, it would say 100% but nothing in site.

I am quite positive, I am not doing something correct - the first 4 quest went smooth, and I know others (such as yourself) had smoot sailing.

Usually when it is this complicated - it is a simple solution LOL

Look in your item hangar for the Gas Passkey

As ergh said. The icon is different. Look for proof of discovery gas passkey in your item hanger. From the picture it is not in your ship's cargo.

how embarrasing...
I took another look, the actual 1x PoD:Gas passkey was NOT in my ship but in the inventory. I got it confused with the original PoD in the inventory

see... knew it was something simple.. I moved it over to my ship, it all should go well now

thanks guys for helping me think this through!!!

have a good T-day for those the celebrate it.

[EDIT]
For those with similar issue or just following to see how it went, when accepting the quest, make sure you move the key to your ship :-)

:D, I'm finding the whole scanning thing a bit complicated myself, just finding the sites by moving my scanners seems hard.

This game is complicated. It also prioritizes player skill over character skill. There are a lot of guides and video tutorials for Eve scanning / exploration already that you can find.

I will just say here that most things in this game just require some experience / experimentation to get decent at. You can read guides and watch videos to help accelerate the learning but there is just no way around having to do to be able to have good questions to ask.

I recommend watching a few of the videos and then giving it a try and then watch / read a little more. Know that it does get easier and faster with experience and skills but also know that it will always take effort. This game intentionally does not have easy mode for anything.

Yeah ergh, to be honest that's what sort of appeals to me with this :)
I've looked and read many sites about it and think I'm just about getting the hang of it.
Are there anomalies everywhere in Eve?

They are everywhere but if you want consistent respawning of a bunch of anoms with good bounty payouts you need to be in an upgraded null sec system. Luckily there are plenty of those in game.
