WELCOME TO EVE!! I hope you enjoy it here! I tend to do minning or running sites there are so many ways to make ISK and so many things to try, I advice you do the campaigns as they show you the basics of the game, If you require any help feel free to join my chat channel "krrt" or ask in the rookie help channel!

Again welcome

You and everyone else mate. Tbh this sounds like the worst way to play EvE and the main reason most people burn out. Try to go for fun per hour instead of ISK per hour. Seriously it's MUCH more fun that way Blink

Get in touch by EvE mail any time and i'll be happy to help out with any little Q's you may develop.

This is a PVP game, and it's not dogfighting, it's more like a strategy game; you're a unit, you can join a corp, alliance, coalition, and take over the map. The developers put a lot of effort into the PVP aspects of the game and PVP balance of the ships, and the PVE / money-making isn't as developed as in other games where you have quest lines and advanced boss AI during the fights.

So we recommend that you do "moneymaking activities" just enough to pay for some ships, and then take those ships out and blow them up to have fun. Because otherwise you're going to be grinding for pixels.

The newbie tutorials that you'll be doing give you exaggerated amounts of money and ships. Once you're done with them, high-sec is really a newbie zone, but everybody seems to want to stay in it and grind the low rewards for a few measly ISK. To fully enjoy the game, join one of the newbie-friendly huge alliances and go out to null and have fun. They'll give you ships, they'll give you ISK, and they'll organize fleet ops for you.

Don't spend a month working 5+ hours daily in high-sec to gain a PLEX in-game to pay your subscription, when you can go Omega (get the subscription) for $12-$15 per month. And buy an extra PLEX for another $20, turn it into 1 billion ISK in-game. You'll be set for a long time with that kind of cash.

Turning the game into a job isn't worth it.

Welcome!

Yes, at first EvE can be complex, but stay with it - soon it will make sense to you!

Play how you want, lot's of pvp out there but you dont have to partake till you learn(most of the time). This game has much to offer besides pvp, As you can see some here prefer pvp so they are willing to help with that. However you can also learn the market, buy low sell high if like that sort of thing, you can mine, not my cuppa but some love it and some love blowing them up.
Do missions, though those can get repetitive, or explore sites or anywhere you want. Then there is manufacturing. join a corp be drone be a leader whatever. But yea in the end having cash or rather the ability to make cash doesn't hurt, as mentioned though dont worry about to much efficiency, have fun. At first I rushed to be able to do L4 missions but ended up just exploring most of the time. Also try to get some implants so you can start learning skills faster, nothing fancy for now but it all add's up over months and years.

Some bits of wisdom from over the years:

- Outside of the ship and weapon system of your choice, you only need the following skills to do PvP:
--------- Propulsion Jamming (to use Warp Disruptors, Warp Scramblers, and Stasis Webifiers)
--------- Afterburner (self explanatory)
--------- High Speed Maneuvering (to use MicroWarpdrives)

Congrats. Now you can run down players (see: tackle) for other, harder hitting, players.

- Ships and weapons have been balanced against one another.
Ex: A battleship can potentially instapop a frigate... but the frigate can fly very fast, making it difficult for the battleship's weapons to track, especially at very close range... then again, the battleship can deploy drones to deal with the frigate... and the frigate can shoot the drones down... however the battleship might have a Large Energy Neutralizer fitted to nuke the frigate's capacitor every 24 second... in which case the frigate could use a Small Nosferatu that sucks out capacitor every 3 seconds... etc. etc.

Basically... don't be afraid of biting more than you can chew. But accept all possible outcomes at the same time... even those that are not in your favor.

And then there is this gem that I picked up from another player a few years back:

Cthulhu ftghan wrote:
You will die.

A lot.

And once you get good at things and understand how the game works, you will end up getting wtfbbqpwnzored by 2 people in frigates, and your battleship will be burning with you inside. They will demand you hand over more isk than you have in your virtual wallet, and you will realize that, in fact, you still know nothing about this game.

You will never win this game.

This isn’t a “win” game. There is no level 80. There is no set of achievements except the ones your set for yourself.

You aren’t safe. Anywhere. Period. PvP occurs in stations too. It is called The Market. You might not die, but your wallet could easily disappear.

You fit your ship wrong. Again. That’s right, you always will. “My Punisher killed that Rifter! This is certainly the right fit. No wait, how did that Coercer kill me? I need to refit…”

Check your directional.

Check your local.

That Maller is a trap.

Warp stabilizers might save you today. They won’t tomorrow, and probably won’t ever again.

Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didn’t learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.

Bookmark everything. ESPECIALLY when you jump into a wormhole. This includes where you came into the wormhole. Because when you are busy scanning and a HAC targets your Arbitrator, you will be in a pod. And then you will have a really interesting time getting out of Wormhole space.

Keyboards are destructible. Much more so when used as a projectile.

Don’t fly it if you can’t fit it. That being said, DON’T FLY IT IF YOU CAN’T FIT IT. And the same goes for affordability.

That mentally challenged fellow there in local chat calling you names? He’s not mentally challenged. Nor is he forgiving when he finds you.

Pods pop easily.

Concord delivers swift justice, especially for your mistakes, like targeting friendly pods and clicking the wrong action.

You can do anything: Manufacture, explore, trade, pvp, mine, lead a corporation, lead an alliance, wage wars, pirate, transport, be a part of factional warfare, and I’m sure there is more I am leaving out. You can become virtually rich, and you can lose it all.
