Linking bomber and DDD use to sov held

My idea is that SC and titans will normally be unable to use bombers and DDD unless the pilot is part of an alliance that holds a certain amount of sov (i.e. systems with TCUs in). For SC i was thinking an alliance could enable 1 pilot per system held, whereas a whole constellation (or as an alternative 5+ systems) needs to be under control for every titan pilot with DDD capabilities.

This would of course only allow null sec alliances full use of SC and titans but they would need to control and maintain a lot of sov in order to field a SC that could easily out match a standard cap fleet.

Not sure how good, or implementable, an idea this is but would be interesting to see what other people thought.

Not sure how much flak/rage you'll receive on this one. It's effectively making a pop-cap type system on the deadliest weapon systems, which is an interesting idea at face value.

The drawback is: whoever has the most space will remain the most powerful and gain more space and be more powerful...

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!

I agree with you that the system favours the people with the most space but isn't that the problem at the moment? Those with most space and resources are free to build and use as many SC and titans as they can. This effectivley means that smaller groups can be easily brushed aside.

The idea with this system is to help limit this specific problem as changes in SC and titans that CCP introduce will still most likely mean that they are still going more effective than carriers and dreads. Even a small advantage can easily be scaled up to an overwhelming advantage given sufficient numbers.

Then again its EVE, if you work your arse of to make something happen then you should be rewarded (but you shouldn't be invunerable).

The top seven sov holding alliances (ranked by number of systems held) are all members of one power bloc, and hold 890 systems between them, the top ranked alliance alone holds 250 systems. the highest ranked alliance NOT in their bloc holds 80 systems. How exactly would you propose that the guys with 80 systems hold off the guys with 250, let alone the rest of the bloc?

Introducing a draconian maintenance scheme that makes the vast empires nigh impossible would solve the immediate issue of system count, but still doesn't address the real issue when it comes to SC's at present: Numbers.

It doesn't matter if 50-100 SCs drop fighters or fighter-bombers on your capital fleet. You are still going to need roughly equal numbers of supers or a node-crashing fleet to counter it.

SC's EHP is too high and they are too good at too many things which makes creating a mixed fleet a matter of "sure, bring whatever to fill the fleet slots after SCs are in" .. they need focus.

Titan's just recently became an issue as they too are being spammed, but apart from the DD they are pretty basic super-dreads really, tracking has been mentioned as being a little too good.
Solution for them could be to limit the number of DD activations possible on a given grid within a certain timeframe (call it sub-space tearing or some such) and decrease their tracking a tad. Another option is to give DD signature resolution to make them pointless against anything but capitals .. so if you are swarmed with HICs/Dics you actually need that support fleet to save your ass.

Well it seems to me that it isn't such a good idea after all.

Even if CCP managed to perfectly balance ships there doesn't seem to a way to stop the largests alliances dominating without CCP interferring which I don't think they would want to do. I am not sure whether I would like them doing so either.
