Hi all, thanks for your time reading this.
Finally EVE Online have a F2P part where we can really feel the game moods and see if is what we want. I know the game since beta, but only now I was able to play it, so here's a few questions:

1-Is there a list of wich systems have specific ores and by list I mean not the generic ones, more like Vittenyn spawns veldspar and scordite

2-Can I be shoot by other player if I go mine on other faction systems? I know someone tried to shot me twice while looking for specific ore in some areas I'm yet to discover wich faction belongs

3-If I'm destroyed while on space for other player on areas 06 and above ca I be looted?

4-How do I transfer itens from one player to another? Me and my brother started together and I would like to exchange some ammo we both crafted from different types to check results of our skills

5-Some skills won't allow me to advance due requirement of omega since I started as a free player. Is there some sort of item that I can buy on market that takes off this and other future restrictions?

6-I received a ship from a mission it have 3 slots for guns but I can fit only 2, the game says I don't have the required slot. Why is that?

o/ Welcome to EvE.

1. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/ will tell you which belts are in which systems local you your region.

2. Not in Hi-sec. If you wander into Low-sec EVERYONE will be after you.

4. As an Alpha player, you can't train 'Contracting', so you must both be logged in and in the same station. Just right click his name in the 'station guest' panel on the right, and choose 'Trade'.

5. Only if you sub.

6. Some ships have what is called a 'Utility High Slot'. So 3 Highs, but only 2 weapon hard points.

1. Yeah google "eve online hi sec ore prices". Personally I use "isk per hour" for that which you can also Google for.

2. You can always be shot at by other players regardless of security. Higher security is harder to kill you but if they put in effort it can be done.

3. Also anyone can loot you.

4. Either right click and create contract and assign them the item or be in the same station and go to guest list and right click and choose trade.

5. Buy a 30 day pilot license (plex)

6. You maybe confused. It might be the case that you have three high slots but only two gun hard points.

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

3. You can be shot by any player, but in high-sec, if you are not criminal or suspected, they will be punished by concord.
If you have joined faction warfare than rival faction can attack you anytime.

Ill just expand on the answers already given.

5. If you buy Plex(Pilot license extension), you can remove restrictions, but these are very expensive(1.2 bill each right now) and they are basically the same as a subscription.

6. Each ship has only a limited amount of hardpoints, irrespective of high slots. You can only fit the number of turrets that you have hardpoints for. The extra highslots are actually very very useful.

They're not going to get any cheaper either, not since the advent of SP trading.

New players should probably avoid subscribing via PLEX as its pretty unlikely they could sustain earnings in excess of 1bill/month at an alpha clone level. Might be best to buy 3 or 6 months gametime (you get discounts) from CCP once you've decided you like the game. Funding PLEX after 6 months subs is a whole different ballgame to funding them as a newbie.

You can of course use RL money to buy PLEX but I'd caution against that until you have more of a clue about the game - its very easy to lose lots of iskies in Eve Pirate

2. You can be shot by players anywhere. If you're in high-sec (systems rated 0.5, 0.6 ... 1.0), Concord police will appear and kill whoever shot you. But even so, if you fly an expensive ship that is very weak, other players can fly a cheap frigate or destroyer and kill you, then die to Concord police, then come back with a cargo ship and loot everything and make more money than before. You see players use 1 million ISK destroyer to kill 200 million ISK mining barge, or industrial transport ship with 100 million ISK ore or loot in the cargo hold.

3. When your ship explodes, it creates a shipwreck. The weapons and armor/shields and modules that you had fitted to your ship, and cargo in your ship, have about 50% chance to survive the explosion and remain inside the shipwreck as loot. Whoever killed you can loot your shipwreck. You can also try to return to the shipwreck as soon as you get another ship, to loot your stuff. But the enemies that killed you are probably still there.

4. You can buy ships and items everywhere, so easiest is to transfer the ISK. You can transfer items if you open the Contracts app, and create an Item Exchange contract that is Private (type in the character name of your friend), then select the items you want to transfer. Keep in mind that EVE does not teleport or mail the items; your friend will have to come to the station where the contract is, to load the items in his ship and move them away. You and your friend can see all the items and where they are by opening the Assets app in-game.

5. This game does not have individual unlocks like SWTOR or WoW. You either play for free as Alpha, or you use one of the many payment methods (subscription, PLEX, paypal, etc.) to become Omega for 30 days or more. CCP may add more options in the future, but they just released this whole Alpha / Omega thing, so right now you only have those 2 options.

6. Ships have many stats. High, med, and low slots are just places where you can install ship modules such as guns, armor, shields, etc. For high slots, the number of slots limits the ship, but there's a further limit for the number of turrets (guns) vs. the number of missile vs. blank high-slots that are just for "utility" modules like drone range extenders or remote repair of other ships.

Med slots typically accept shield extenders and resistances, propulsion modules like afterburners, and various jammers / electronic warfare modules.

Low slots typically accept armor repairers and resistances, DPS enhancements like heat sinks and gyrostabilizers, cargo expanders, etc.

In addition to the slots, each ship only has so much power-grid and CPU-processors to fit things. When you install guns, they consume power grid. When you install shields, they consume power grid. When you install mining lasers or electronic jammers, they consume CPU. It's like plugging appliances in; you can only have so many before the whole circuit burns up.

So ships are limited this way too, with frigates only having enough power and CPU for small-sized modules, cruisers for medium-sized, and battleships for large-sized. There are two very important skills, Energy Management and Processor Management, that increase the power grid and CPU for ALL your ships; you should train those skills as high as possible.

Thanks everyone for the quick reply. Seems to be a very long road to learn and you guys already explained way more than I asked. One last question:

-I was on a mining belt when a non capsuler shooted me, then an exclamation mark showed near my portrait with some sort of timer, what that meant?

It's a log off timer. If you were to log out in space your ship would warp to a random location nearby but it will stay in space until the timer expires. Other players can find you and attack you during this time with combat probes.

Otherwise you could run missions or mine in low/null sec in complete safety by logging out whenever someone threatens you (ie jumps into system)

When you are involved in combat with an NPC or player you get a logoff timer and while active, the game keeps your ship in space if you logoff or disconnect. This is to prevent players being on the losing side to pull the plug and cheat away.

I have another question, this one is really annoying me. You have that button on gui that group all weapons, only downside is it never sits on the same key. How can I make the group weapons always sit on F1?

you can drag those icons. slots at the top level are by default binded to the 'function' keys, the left most slot is F1.

if you mean you want to automatically set the grouped up guns in F1 when you hit the 'group' key, well, i dont think it's possible, which for me is a good thing because i usually put scram/point in F1.

Got it thanks! Other question, this one is just a bit annoying too. Is there a way to stop ship from zooming out while undocking?

Edit: Another thing. I acidentally messed with game gui and it stopped showing things like, how much ore I mined, how much damage I've taken or given, so how I reenable it? Tried to find in google and in game with no luck.

As for first one - have no clue, mine is OK.
As for second - you better reset GUI, not sure where is that button but look for it in settings.

Main menu -> accessories -> logs and mesages -> combat settings. There are some tick boxes that show what is displayed in space.
