I performed a small test on the NPC mining fleets today. I was testing to see what defense fleets would drop when attacking the miners. I have been told that the defense fleets are equal to your size but found that to be very wrong.
The results were dull at first but amazed me by the end. I did not stay to engage the fleets, as soon as they dropped I glanced over the composition and got out.

I used a cruiser (Vexor) to see what ships I could pull. All fleets were found in 0.6 - 0.9 space.
So, out of the 30 or so asteroid belts I went through I got 10 fleets.

Ok, I'm just gonna say it; 10 surprised the hell out of me! I had been doing these attacks before with a Cerberus and a Raven. Battleships got me in my Raven, that I comprehend. The frigates got me in my Cerberus. It wasn't just 1 battleship, it was 5!! That seemed a bit overkill for a high-sec system while in a Cruiser. 1 battleship would be cool.

Other than that, I didn't really notice a difference in the chances of finding one of these fleets. I went through systems that had over 10 belts and got, max, 2 - 3. Smaller systems had 1 - 2.

So the chances of finding one of the fleets are actually good. Not REALLY GOOD, just good. I didn't spend more than 3 to 10 minutes finding a fleet.

1/10 to spawn a battleship fleet seems fine to me when in high-sec but the number of battleships in the fleet could go down. Along with the sheer number of ships that follow them in. At-least in high-sec the numbers could be smaller.
