Alpha Clone skills and civ class lockout

So, the first thing I noticed while poking around was the fact that almost half of the civilian level items are blocked from use. They require Omega skills, but, are useless to an omega player. With that, why do they exist? they are obsolete now and inaccessible to the people it would be useful for.

Secondly, Drones. in trial accounts you could use drones, at least civ level or class 1. Now, alphas can't use any kind of drone. Though, an alpha has skills you can train to use drones, it locks you out saying all drones need omega status to use. Is there a secret drone class that alphas can use?

The prime question, why can alphas not use civilian class items and why do they (we) have useless skills?

If the civilian class items are for another race, you can't use them. If you need more civilian guns, you can just repackage your corvette it and reassemble it for more civilian stuff. For getting through the tutorial and career missions, the cheapest armor repper or shield booster is plenty.

Drones, you can use drones as an alpha, but you only start with the drones skill, you need to buy the light drone operation skill to actually fly some light drones.

I found the omega sign popping up a lot where it is not necessarily true. For example, in the ship browser it would show the destroyer as Omega, when I simply haven't trained the destroyer skill yet. So omega doesn't really mean omega right now, it just means you can't use it, for whatever reason.
