Mining in Rookie system

I am a veteran player in Eve online. I have been hanging out in rookie system.

Within the span of 30 minutes, I had to help new players find ores. Like most Hi-Sec system, the ores in the belts are already depleted. Yet, several missions send you to mine ores into the belt.

In the last 30 minutes, I have showed 4 new players how to find ores using the probe scanner. This already seem to be a problem if the agents send you to asteroid belts to find non-existent ores. The is also a mission that tells you to mine pyroxeres, plagioclase, jaspet or hemorphite, which is not available in ore sites. AFAIK, only veldspar spawn in sites in rookie system.

I understand we don't want infinite asteroid in space, but can we at least give those new players a chance to complete simple missions or to guide them to where they can find the required ores. I would assume that a new player that follows all the instructions, yet can't complete the mission is more likely to get discouraged and stop playing Eve.

Let's find a fair balance way to have enough ores in rookie system for new players to complete missions.

That is the most frustrating thing, imho.
Even some fighting missions,..the Mission description even warns you that if you don't see anything,. wait around to respawn.

Why can't it just generate your own little newb mission in space that perhaps doesn't show up on scanner?

At least for the newb missions.

If an agent sends you to find ores they should be generic ones that can not be sold on market only turned in to an agent. Problem solved with them getting stuck.

I am only a few days old and this never happened to me. I'll keep an eye out. But I can see this being a problem since there is an extra reward if the mission is completed within a certain range of time. That extra reward isn't negligeable when it comes to new players, hmmm.

I just went to another system and looked there.

Hauling systems send you places. The more advanced security ones do too.

Why should mining be any different?

While I agree that if it's an agent mission then those ores should be available for the person if that's what the mission is for, however I could see the other side if you start spawning low/null ores as it can get abused, the other ores (normally found in high sec), should be no problem as one just need to jump into another system and look around, this is how I find good stuff.

Having to go to another system is fine. But I feel there needs to be more of an indicator for the New Player Experience if that is the case.

Something like " Hey,.don't forget if you can't find any ores here, go to other systems! and use your Contacts tab to find your way back to the agent!"

or

" Hey,..looks like someone already cleared this mission. Stand by for them to rearm and return! This may take a few minutes!"

Just something,..anything, to pop up at the moment they warp in to the Missions spot. Otherwise you get that ,..pause,.and confused feeling,..then frustration. " wtf,..I am here! I am at the spot,..where is this thing?!"

I am speaking strictly of the newb Career agents,..after that,...then ok. They can learn scanning and more advanced stuff ont he go , and from other players.

Yea, having to help a LOT of people with the interface, and try to cool people down who are having problems with their accounts.

I think the training menu on the left is too inobstrusive, players don't seem to realize that they can interact with it, to repeat something they missed. People ranting and screaming because they got blown up, even though the mission description said they need to use the ship provided because they were not expected to survive.

Basically, people are coming here with the expectation that there is no need to read mission descriptions, because they never bothered to read quest descriptions in other MMOs. Novice players seem to need a more conspicuous way to recall journal entries while they are learning the new interface.

Tutorial missions should send players to mission pockets to mine. One business tutorial did send me to mine a single asteroid in a pocket. But yea, "where are the asteroids" is a common rookie system question.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

I've done the first few mining missions easily, found the ore I wanted.
Now I have the mission to get different ore, now I immediately thought to myself that I will have to goto another area to mine these.
I'm assuming this is correct.

If you can't find any asteroids, start requesting some level 1 missions. Many missions have roids inside.

In regards to mining, i'm at that point now, obejective is to mine 1000 Veldspar which I thought I did but it also says something to the effect of 100.0 m to the third power what does that mean? I've done it three times and it won't let me complete the mission?

1000 Veldspar is 100 cubic metres. It's just saying you need a pile 'this' big.

If you can't complete the mission, make sure the ore (do NOT refine them into Tritanium) is in the correct station hangar.
