I showed the new crucible trailer to some friends today.. they are not very affine with MMOs and gaming and such,
but after watching a friend said wow..that looks very cool.. and after I said to him he could play it a few weeks for free he was all for registering and giving it a try.

I said..."wow cool .. we can fly together and I show you how it works.."

now I am in bed and rethink what I said...
What should I show him... how i pwn everything with 60 million skillpoints in a level1 mission..even in a frig while he is crying because he got fried..
Or take him to a level4 with me...showing my 6 billion uberawesome machariel killing a whole fleet with one shot while he is still aligning to the accelartion gate..

Mining?!...come on.. Flying into 0 won't work out well to I guess..

really.. I need Ideas what to do with a total newbie to amaze him for the game, if you're self are a very very bitter vet, that saw all, were everywhere and even bought his tshirts himself.. :/

how would you attract friends to the game?

Take him to Jita and tell him to take on of the yellow cans, then after he blows up pay for another ship and tell him to never take the yellow cans.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

RvB is usually pretty fun, you could try there

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Sometimes when I post, I look at my sig and wish that I'd follow my own god damned advice.

I'd promise them lots of free stuff and help and then gank them when they skilled-up and got their shiny new cruiser. When they got mad and wanted to get even I'd tell them to go join goons because they are always recruiting.

Run level 1 missions with him. Really, people that are new to eve find missionrunning disturbingly entertaining- at least for a week or so. And do not fly some overpowered pwnmobile, just use the same t1 frig hull that your friend is using. With your better skills, more experience and all t2 fit you will still be ten times better than him, but not so much as to disencourage him.

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

I don't see the problem in getting in a frig and level oneing with him, he's not to know the diffrence skill brings, he'll be popping pirates having a good time. You don't have to tear through the mission just sit back and watch his back, with a little instruction he should be more than capable.

buy him 100 t1 fit rifters, show him some basics of flying and then set his autopilot to somewhere in syndicate.

yeah..ok...you mean more like a fleet commander telling him what to do but acting like not there and just assist him when hes getting into real trouble... (which would make me a bad fleet commander...)

But then again...I would uberpwn all his targets...

so my first Ideas are...
tell him what do learn for a good destroyer...lets say a catalyst..I think you can fly a catalyst afert 3 days of skilling...give him 5 million and a fitting....but then...

ok fly with him and tell him what to shoot that he is having a good time..that is a good Idea....I will try that...

Sorry guys, I am on a tablet an sometimes my spelling and stuff gets worse here...

Roll an alt and play alongside them while they found their feet. It has a double benefit as it lets you experience the original game with fresh eyes and gives them an similarly skilled buddy. It also allows you to introduce him/her to lowsec, nullsec and take over where the tutorial missions let off.

Teach him how to fly first. Then take him on pirating with you.

Loads of fun.

You can fly a catalyst after a few hours of skilling dude. Destroyers are fun for newbies. i know I loved the **** out of them.

hm..that is a very good Idea too!

Why not.. I never had an alt yet. I allways wanted to try an laseramaarian.

Think in a bigger time frame. Just tell him that Caldari ships are the best and make him train for Falcon- and within a few weeks you will have your very own, independent Falcon alt that follows you humbly and willingly everywhere you go. Cool

Dont give him too much stuff for nothing. Making your first 10 mil should make you feel like you are the riches badass around. In an MMO there should always be a feeling of accomplishing something, getting stuff TOO easy can actually set you off from a game.

It might be worth if you could be within visible range when you do this; so you could show / explain things on your screen if necessary. A few beers, something disgusting and greasy and tasty to snack on and a vague recollection the next day is not going to require an early start ...
