Hauling corp?

Hey eve forums o/ I wanted to ask some questions on hauling. So I've created Shihari as a to be future hauling alt, and I was wondering is there a place to start in the career of hauling. Such as a corp that would be willing to take in newer people to hauling, but that raised several questions such as would a hauling corp be willing to accept alts? Would I be able to haul stuff for my main account if i'm in a corp, when reading about this topic I've seen people talk of having an alt in the hauling corp but their actual hauler in an npc corp.

You're touching on multiple topics that may not be related.

First of all, anyone can train industrials, transports, freighters, jump freighters, and most corps have people who move all the junk that the corp needs. Most players also have the ability to move their own junk.

Second, for those who can't or won't move their own stuff, EVE provides Courier Contracts, where you package the items into a box and specify a destination, collateral (value of the items, to be paid to you if the courier fails to deliver the items), and payment for the courier, and anyone can accept the contract and move the goods for you and get paid. On the flip side, you can open the Contracts interface and see all the public courier contracts, and pick whichever ones you want to transport.

Third, there are some EVE player corporations that specialize in moving stuff, specifically from/to dangerous space, or moving items that are very expensive or in large quantities (such as belonging to an entire alliance). PushX and Red Frog are two such corporations. I am not sure if they are recruiting, and what their membership requirements may be. I can say that trust is a big part of the operation, and you may have to prove yourself; EVE makes it very easy to steal or betray others, so it's hard to gain trust.

Fourth, somewhat unrelated, if you're a member of a player corporation, other player corporations can declare war against you. As a result, some people prefer to not join a player corp, and remain in the NPC corp that they start the game with. Obviously everyone wants to minimize the danger to their big freighter ships, which is why they keep the freighter away from war declarations, and only keep an alt in the actual corp to keep up with what's going on.

So, your options are:

- get started by doing courier contracts, experience the hauler's life

- try to join pushx, red frog, or others; open the corporations interface in-game and look at their profiles and recruitment adverts

- make your own corp and try to build up trust by taking smaller contracts to move bulk stuff

Yes.

Yes, they would, but generally you would need to be able to fly things like Blockade Runners or freighters. small ships with crap fittings tend to be gank bait and are generally not welcomed.

Yes. Just have to make a private contract to your hauler alt.

Honestly, unless you want to make it a career, theres no point in joining large corps like PushX or Redfrog freight. Just stay in an NPC corp and haul for you and your friends.

Can alpha clones accept/make contracts?

Omegas can train a "contracting" skill that raises their limit from 1 contract to 21, so they can create up to 21 contracts for others. Omegas can accept and try to finish unlimited numbers of other people's contract jobs simultaneously.

Alphas, I believe, are restricted to only being able to create the default 1 contract, AND can only accept / do one contract job at a time.

Another thing about hauler alts, you leave them in NPC corps and join the hauling corp with a throwaway character that accepts contracts, so the person who made the contract doesn't actually know what character is transporting it in space, and so you are immune from wardecs.

So i'd need to pay for 3 subs instead of 2 or would a alpha clone be able to accept a contract then recontract it to my actual hauler?

One problem you might have is many corps don't accept alts only. They want your main character. Many corps will treat an alt as a spy, and a hauling corp would take security pretty seriously.

I can't speak for any specific corps, I started as a hauler picking up courier contracts and didn't bother to join a hauler corp. But generally, many corps don't accept alts if they know your main is in another player corp.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Anyone can accept a contract. To make a contract you might need contracting 1.

If you're training an alt specifically for hauling then then Black/Red Frog are the guys to talk to.

They haul stuff all over Eve for good/bad/wtf knows guys Lol

Nope, it can be any new character, so your alt, or a new character that you make on the same account will do.

Just remember that you need to contract the item back to your original character that accepted the hauling contract in the first place. Since he was the one to accept it, he needs to be the one to fulfill it.

Just use a spare character slot on an existing account. Accept the contract with that character, trade the goods to your NPC hauler, haul the cargo, then when you get to the destination trade it back to the original character to complete the contract.

Again - and this is NOT recruitment, the default people to go to for hauling are the froggies.

Your hauler alt never joins their corp.

You pick what you want to do - ranging from high-sec boredom to cynoing onto a station in sov null in "somewhat inopportune" circumstances,

Not my cup of tea on a regular basis but YMMV. Go search them in-game.

Eve is largely about trust. The froggies have it so if one of their guys steals the cargo then its paid for.

Red/Black Frog are who most people in Eve "trust".

You can find out more about hauling in Eve by joining the chat channel : Haulers Channel

Open the chat channel icon on your Neocom and in the box at the top where it says Join / Create : Haulers Channel

They have a few stickies in the MOTD with useful links and usually a good few hundred people in channel, either posting contracts, there to accept them or just hanging out.

They are usually receptive to new haulers asking questions but try and read the stickies first to answer commonly asked questions like how to spot scam contracts, what is a reasonable collateral, price per jump, stuff related to rookie haulers and so on.
